And a reminder to all: Use and keep updated the "Jury Blacklist" feature in your DU account settings.

I just checked mine and found that three of the members are no longer with us.

Imagine that.

Can you send me names of people I need to put on blacklist please

I assume that if I become a star member and pay it wont save me from hidden posts from the same group that hates to hear that white people are privileged?

But I think it would be great for the community if it did, I should ask Skinner to think it over.

The names on my list probably wouldn't work for you because we each have different people after us for different reasons, I'll send you a few.

Also, a star can be had for $5 for a full year, I think, which is cheap considering the value of this site.

I'm appalled at the SHUT THE FUCK UP and YOU ARE THE PROBLEM crowds. Those are some seriously demented comments to make to women about the hatred they have to deal with on a daily basis because of the chromosomes they were born with or because they identify as female. It's fucking pathetic that nothing has been done about this after taking away moderators and leaving it to the SHUT THE FUCK UP and YOU ARE THE PROBLEM crowds to police themselves. What other outcome could possibly be predicted? How do they not understand that by not directly addressing the misogyny or amending the TOS to include misogyny that they APPEAR EXTREMELY COMPLICIT in harboring said hate speech. But hey, they'll start a Men's right's group on DU. No fucking disconnects going on here... move along folks....

One by a male member who insisted posting bikini babes in GD wouldn't be a problem if "feminists" would just keep their mouths shut.
Another statement, by a self-proclaimed feminist, who insisted there was no need to include sexism or misogyny in TOS, the problem wasn't the men on DU but the women who treated them as "the enemy." And we're supposed to believe they are on our side? If that's our side, what's the other?

quite a mythical story of it. it is all about making people look pathetic yet, they wear it as a badge. remember, it was valentine. people were getting along and enjoying themselves. i had a really long valentine thread and people were saying, a thread... where only nice stuff. not a single nasty post. yea du.

you know

having fun

couldnt have that.

the funniest on that is 6 months later they still run around yelling me me me, i did it. three weeks long, when reality is a couple days. (soon it will be a 2 month ordeal). when most of the mess was the men deciding it was time for boob threads in gd, to put women in their place and skinner and earl actually stepped in.

that... is what the mens club, and a couple women see as their win. i cannot guess how many times warren has brought that up, to bask in his glory, in the last couple days.

now. what is it really saying? what is his purpose? he has nothing else but to poke with a stick, si cover, 6 months ago? how many of us were even in the thread. it is the example that it was not si or the cover. it is using a womans sexuality to attack other women as a tool. creating a hostile environment, mans space, with naked women. like a place of employment allow men to put their porn on the wall. that was the discussion. not si. and certainly not the poster of the OP. that took it to a feminist issue. and, if warren and the others do not want feminist to talk about feminist issues, like men creating hostile environments with naked pictures to put women in their place, in a space, then a progressive board is the wrong place to be.

that is kinda like fox saying, .... oh women, take the cat calling and harassment and let men be men. that would be the discussion. not the is cover.

(maybe i got pulled into the thread. kinda remember a poster putting the onus on what girls wear. i do not remember)

It is like a bunch of monkeys flinging poo at each other.

The whole thing has gotten so stupid I don't even waste my time with trying to interact.

The ratio of people who just want to push buttons and argue for fun, to people who want to have any kind of meaningful discussion, has gone so far out of whack it isn't worth it anymore.

I have better things to do than roll around in the mud with assholes on the internet.

DU has become a parody of itself. The people running the place don't give a fuck. Why should I?

Unless Skinner has a come to Jesus moment over DUs misogyny problem, I don't see using DU for anything but LBN to see what's going on in the world. And HoF now and again.

The "community" aspect of it is dead and buried. RIP. Endless subtreads of people who hate each other sniping back and forth ad nauseum - mods use to kill that shit. I hate that shit, and we don't have anybody to do "cleanup in aisle 9" anymore.

Fuck it. I totally get why rq bailed.

Sun Aug 31, 2014, 10:21 AM

addresses the sexism so there is not much of an issue. here is my reply to him. i would like more people to take the time, and think this thru. as they veiw a board that does not apear to be at a level of sexism they think we complain about.

every once in a while you see it. how much is directed at you, how often are you in the right place?

do you think that may color your perception.

example: about every woman has experienced street harassment a number of times in their lives. about EVERY woman, and a NUMBER of times in a lifetime. men say. i do not see it. ever.

so? that makes our experience invisible? less? it didnt happen?

when about every woman says, she has experienced street harassment and tells the experience, it is being dismissed with, .... i do not see it.

not directed at you men. and not directed at women, when a man is around. no you do not see it. doesnt mean it is not happen, or a womans experience is dismissed.

we have been posting on this board a decade or more with the same people. you do not think we do not know each others position? argument? so when a poster says something innocuous, it may go over most peoples head. those us of that have been following along in the conversation for years, know damn well what is being said. and the posters count on the fact others will not get the jab and it will not be hidden. sexism is sexism. whether in your face, or quiet. it is still sexism. it flavors conversation, environment, interaction with each other.

again. because you do not see it, does not mean it is not there.

last point. this is interesting to me. you say when it does happen, it is nipped in the bud cause of the strong feminist community. so let me ask you, what do you think it takes out of us, each and every time we have to call out the same bullshit. even if it is only every couple weeks. yea... you all get a more comfortable, sexist free place to be. and once again, we are having to spend our energy confronting, addressing, taking insults and mischaracterizations and all kinds of crap. bully for du, that the strong presence ensures a more comfortable, less hostile environment. then, the twist, what happens? we are the villians. throw out a hof insult, all is good. start a thread about me, say my uterus is too old to be birthing two boys, or create a rape porn scene for me, call me the b word, that is fine. i deserve it. for being a part of shutting down the sexism. that makes it so convenient for so many.

so, you can wrap your post up in a whole lot of meh... but when you unwrap it, it is not so insignificant.

just a couple points to think about.
