DU Community Help
Related: About this forumGreetings and Salutations!
I'm Paulie, from Chicagoland. Been on DU for a decade, but one of those low post people that isn't a sock puppet. I've probably posted more since DU3 came online than I did in the previous handful of years.
Lets see. I've been working in IT for 20 years, love audio books and podcasts as I spend 1 to 1.5 hours commuting each way.
One of my hobbies is genetic genealogy. I don't know my direct paternal line lineage in genealogical time, but it looks like I come from a long line of Anatolian barbarians. Maternal line is one of the H haplogroups.
My other hobby is a 5.5yr old girl and a 7mo old boy, along with not getting in trouble with the spouse. If it was known I was staying up late watching movies and prowling DU....
See ya around the DU!

(8,462 posts)Last day of school is a picnic, most likely indoors now that it's cold and wet. Then we're off to a children's museum, she hasn't decided which yet.

(5,649 posts)I work in IT, too (I was a software developer for 14 years and then became a business analyst for a software firm).
If you haven't already, feel free to join and post in our Ancestry/Genealogy group:

It's not all about genetic genealogy, but lots of other stuff

(8,462 posts)I'll try and post some threads on DNA. My mormon sister has been handling the paper for years and really took off after I got her an Ancestry account. Found some cousins that lived 3 blocks away from where I grew up, 25 years after the fact. Seems most of Great maternal gran family were within a mile and we never knew.

Aren't we all fancy? Must be posting in our dressy PJs today. Good luck at the children's museum; it will probably be a mob scene.Paulie
(8,462 posts)I hear greetings more and more from my co-workers, it's awesome. They don't know it's a Tron reference either.
Children's Museum at Navy Pier in Chicago wasn't so bad. Rainy Thursday, didn't get busy till after 5. Preschool picnic was indoors in the morning so no inflatable jumping thingies but the kids were happy playing tag.

(21,642 posts)They're her favorite, so I make them a lot, but her classmates seem pretty enthusiastic, too. My husband just came moping out of the kitchen with a rather forlorn look on his face, "I guess you sent all the cookies to school?"

(9,791 posts)I've been here since the beginning but I don't have thousands of posts. I do a lot of reading and learning rather than posting. Sometimes it pays to shut your mouth and listen - words of wisdom from my dad.

(8,462 posts)So not to remove all doubt. I do my best but still fail occasionally.
Wow a year more than me but a 5000 post head start. Will probably never catch ya.

(8,571 posts)Genetic Genealogy sounds so interesting to me! I'm going to look into that. I love science so much, and I'm always up for learning something new. I'm an RN, one can never learn too much lol
Nice to meet you
