Help. My search engine says Google but I end up with a Chinese website

Keep extra browsers. Especially Firefox, Brave, maybe Epic Tetrachloride Aug 2023 #6

Start by removing all your add-ons. They are easy to reinstall. Exit firefox and Wonder Why Aug 2023 #13

...my first reaction to any phone weirdness is to shut the phone all the way off for a minute or two and start fresh.

There are a lot of malicious attempts constantly trying to get into your system all the time, some partially slip past your protections but re-booting seems to clear out the less sophisticated attacks.

Power Off is my fist move on everything. Can’t hurt and I have the time.

close all apps. Then try it again.

Next step would be to clear all your cookies, Browsing history and data, and everything else in Firefox-->settings-->Delete Browsing Data. Again, restart firefox after closing all apps.

Try setting duck-duck-go as your preferred search engine in firefox settings. Again, do app close and retry

If al else fails, go to the system settings --> Apps --> Firefox --> Storage --> Clear Data. WARNING: This will remove all your logins/passwords stored in firefox along with all customization. It makes firefox look like you just installed it.
