LONGTIME lurker...

I've lurked on this site since near the beginning. Long before Andy left this world. I spent my time researching and studying. Never joining in the conversation, just educating myself. This site has come a LONG way since the early days of the Bush Administration. I still mostly lurk, but every now and again, I'll comment on something or another...

About me: I've been a registered Democrat since I was 22 (I'm 32 now). Before that, I didn't have much of a care in politics. The Air Force changed that for me. I'm also a working musician. I play in a local (Central Florida) original band, and build guitars, amps, effects and such for other musicians (my band's website, for those interested, is http://www.madmartigan321.com). I'm also the father of a sweet 6 (almost 7) year old girl. Wide-eyed, full of wonder, and a love of the Beastie Boys and the Foo Fighters (yup, she's my kid alright).

Blah blah blah, that's me in a few words, I suppose.

Funnily enough my 3½-year-old's favorite bands at the moment are also the Beastie boys and the Foo Fighters. He always asks for them when we get in the car.

He also likes the Fresh Beat Band but what can I say, he's 3½

Her mother (we never married, and have been separated for 5 years, we have equal custody) picked her up from me the other day and called to let me know my daughter requested her to download "Brass Monkey". Hehehe... She also loves The Beatles, and everytime she sees Barack Obama (since he was elected) she points and says "that's Barack Obama! That's my president!" Although she's changed MY to OUR as her vocabulary has expanded... And her reading skills. Can't wear my "Dumbfuck Mountain" or "I Should've Pulled Out" tshirts left over from the last administration anymore...

Sounds like you've been lurking as long as most of us have been here. It's great that you've decided to officially join us! Guess we don't need to introduce ourselves, since you know us already, LOL!

BTW, Andy was one of my first friends on DU. So glad you knew him, amazing and compassionate guy. I miss him still.
