Even Cuomo's office has hinted at lifting the 7-round limit on magazines and going back to the 10-round limit (but you can still only put 7 in them).

House Bill 2291

Within a month of the start of the legislative session, four state legislators have proposed House Bill 2291,
which would make federal laws restricting certain firearms illegal in the state of Arizona.

"The gist of (HB 2291) really is to preserve the Second Amendment rights of all the Arizona citizens,"
said Rep. Carl Seel, who co-sponsored the bill.

According to the legislation, anyone trying to enforce a federal "rule, regulation or order that is effective
on or after January 1, 2013" and limits or restricts ownership of a semiautomatic firearm or any magazine
of any firearm can be charged with a Class 6 felony.

"When the federal government oversteps its power and trounces on the citizenry,
it's incumbent on the states to stand up and say no," said Seel.

State lawmakers have proposed about a dozen gun-related bills so far this session.
Here are some of them:

Public buildings: House Bill 2288, sponsored by Rep. Steve Smith, R-Maricopa,
would allow guns in all public buildings unless the building is secured by either a
law-enforcement officer or an armed security guard and metal detectors.

Prohibited enforcement: Senate Bill 1112 and HB 2291, sponsored by Sen. Kelli Ward,
R-Lake Havasu City, and Smith, would ban all federal, state or local government employees
and federally licensed gun dealers from enforcing any federal law or regulation relating
to firearms or ammunition in Arizona.

Prohibited possessors: HB 2377, sponsored by Rep. Chad Campbell, D-Phoenix, prohibits
anyone who has been voluntarily hospitalized for mental-health evaluation or treatment
from possessing a firearm. His HB 2379 bans people with court-issued orders of protection
against them from possessing a firearm.

Concealed carry: HB 2380, sponsored by Campbell, reinstates the requirement that individuals
need a permit to carry a concealed weapon, and would require firearms training to get such a permit.

Background check: HB 2381, sponsored by Campbell, requires person-to-person gun sales to go
through a licensed firearms dealer so a background check is conducted on both parties.

College campuses: SB 1049, sponsored by Sen. Ed Ableser, D-Tempe, bans firearms on college campuses.

Ammunition clips: SB 1050, sponsored by Ableser, bans high-capacity ammunition magazine clips.

SB 182 "seeks to ban any public university from prohibiting students, faculty or staff with a concealed handgun license to carry on campus, including classrooms."

It's called the "Firearm Protection Act," and according to that OpEd, has the strongest chance of passing. It's a ban on federal gun bans in the state of Texas, basically. It makes it a criminal offense for anyone to enforce any federal gun regulation passed after January 1, 2013 that is not also a Texas law. Here's the text:

A House committee on Thursday took testimony on a bill that would create a panel to study gun violence in Texas, and another that would establish mandatory background checks at gun shows.

The numbers are not in this story, but the committee considering the bills is the Texas House Homeland Security and Public Safety committee.

And I found this link about people organizing against 3143. I was puzzled by something in the DMN story: saying that a "gun show promoter" became a Class A felon. That didn't pass the smell test, but I couldn't find the text. This link does have a link to the text:

And it's got disinfo just as much as the comment about making a gun show promoter a Class A felon. The promoter only becomes a felon if they don't comply with the law about background checks! As long as you comply, you can promote gun shows all you want.

The "beforeitsnews" link says that FFLs can't perform background checks on firearms they don't own. Well, the background checks are on people, not firearms. It also says people will use straw purchasers, anyway. Fine! Make it harder on the criminals to buy the firearms. That sounds like a plan to me!

I just discovered this Group, and although I knew it was in the works, I didn't realize that it had actually been formed.

I'm in Hawaii, and I contacted the reps from my district, plus a few extra. As you may know, we already have some fairly sane gun laws in Hawaii, but the NRA wolves are threatening to attempt to impose CCW and do away with mandatory registration.
