And I'm glad you are bringing us stuff. I took one class in college about 1975 or so. I think I'm fairly philosophical but I don't have a link. You just have to take my word for it.

4. Gotta love that guy

He is very patient and neutral about the factions here on DU. He was commendable for writing the SoP.

He has been pretty humorous in the ATA, with the rye one liners. Yet, fair, not sarcastic, or snotty.

Man, I think having to answer questions, from certain pushy types would bring out the hostile smartass, in me. Yet, he stays professional.

Brought out the juvenile in me. I'm regretting some of my errors in judgement. I'd see others being asses and just could not resist the temptation to compete.

Brought out the worst in me. I mostly read, everything. Shame on me. I could not quit on my own.

On the other hand, DU is an amateur pursuit. I learned the meaning from a speech in a TV movie from the famous John Houseman.
His character had this reply to a disparaging remark referring to "amateurs":

"Mrs. Burns is right, of course; you are amateurs, unlike certain pseudo-professionals like myself who insist on slave wages. Your voluntary and steadfast attendance at these rehearsals fully qualifies you for any definition of the word "amateur". What Mrs. Burns and many others are wrong about is the meaning of the word, which has to do with motivation, not quality. Remember "amo, amat, amas", the Latin verb "to love". The meaning of "amateur" is "he or she who does a thing for the love of it". There is no higher reason for singing than the love of doing it. In that respect, you do qualify as amateurs. And I salute you for it."
