Honoring MFM, for his many posts here

I think this was his last one in this group

Now, here is some news I think would have made him happy::

New Vets' Home in AZ

The city of Flagstaff is taking the first steps toward getting a military veterans home built in the city.

Tuesday night, Flagstaff City Council directed staff to look into what it would take to deed seven or eight acres of the city’s cinder and sand storage yard on McMillian Mesa to the Arizona Department of Veterans Services for a 60-bed facility for veterans. If the home is approved by the state and federal government it would be the first long-term care veterans facility in Arizona north of Phoenix, according to city staff. (The two existing homes in Phoenix and Tucson are full and have waiting lists)

All of the councilmembers were supportive of the idea, but Councilmember Coral Evans was probably the most excited about the project.

“I’ve been working on this for four years,” she said Wednesday. “I think this is critical for northern Arizona and the location is ideal. This (setting aside the land) is just one step in this process.”
