Three Billboards with Frances McDormand and Woody Harrelson

It is only showing in "select" theaters !!! and I, unfortunately, do not live in a "select" location. Been looking for "future" release plans and don't see.

It's supposed to be really great.

remember living in DC and they would get all the important films early. went to premiere of one of Michael Moore films and remember how cool it was when there was a standing ovation at end.

Some will think they are superficial but it stumped me as to why they were allowed to happen at all.

Woody Harrelson was brilliant but, at 56, was 15 years too old for the role that had a 30 year old wife and two young children; an older wife and children should have been cast.
The sheriff's wife had an Austalian accent with no explanation of how a man in a very small town would ever meet her.
The sheriff's wife wore false eyelashes - what regular person wears false eyelashes?
There was no explanation for where the replacement sheriff came from.

That said, I highly recommend it. Powerful emotions and almost perfect casting. Ironically, I saw Ladybird the next day and Ladybird seemed light-weight by comparison, which is unfortunate because it is a good movie. Both movies have storylines about intense mother-daughter relationships.

Peter Hedges' son, Lucas, acts in both movies and is excellent in both.

They're just awful for close ups in movies. They put them on Bryce Dallas Howard in 50/50 and they were so obvious with her red headed complexion.

I also hate Hollywood's continued obsession of casting YOUNG actresses with middle aged or older actors. Maggie Gyllenhaal said she couldn't even audition for a role as a 56 year old actors love interest. She was 38 and they told her she was "too old". WTF?!

There's no there there and I love Ronan but don't think this will be her Oscar winner. Maybe her next movie where she plays Mary Stuart against Margot Robbie as Queen Elizabeth I will win it for her. Three Billboards is the best film I've seen this year. Francis McDormand is a force of nature. I usually hate to see an actor win more than one award (DD Lewis, enough already)but McDormand deserves another Oscar for this. She may be America's new John Wayne but with true heart, soul and talent. Not just grit.

If you have seen Fargo more than three times, you must see this one.

Dark humor. My wife and I were concerned that we were to only ones laughing at some of the early scenes, but soon enough, others in the theater joined us. I guess laughter begets laughter.

Did I really say "begets"?
