"Sorry to Bother You" (spoilers)

I was really looking forward to this movie because it's about a young man working at a phone-sales office, trying to sell (of all things) encyclopedias. I thought this was a great idea for a movie, with wonderful possibilities for a plot. We saw it this afternoon, and it was just dreadful. And it's heart-breaking because all the actors (mostly unknown to me) were terrific; there wasn't a false note among them, and the dialog was well-written and cogent. But the plot just wasn't there. There were moments of hilarity, when I thought, "well, here we go," but things never took off like they should have. The climax--a race of half-human, half-horses bred by the evil mega-millionaire--on top of his this-close-to-slavery business--was too stupid for this smart movie. What a disappointment.

that it may be the writer or producer or the director's first attempt. You see flashes of something good and maybe a second project by one of those will exceed your expectations...
