Just saw 300: Rise of an Empire, because hubby wanted to see it.

It was all I dreaded it would be, and more. I had my eyes closed for a full hour to block out
the gratuitous, video-game like violence. In fact, it is clear this is another one of those movies
made just so they can sell violent video games later.

The 'historical' references are more like 'hysterical' ones. The violent sex-rape type scene went
on forever between two characters that most likely never met each other.

Sci-fi like elephants in the armies, etc.

Ugh. What a waste. I didn't care for the first 300; this was worse.

Unfortunately, pretty rare for any movie nowadays to actually be extremely violent. The Italians used to be really good at ridiculous violence back in the 70s and early 80s. Makes the original 300 seem like Dora the Explorer. I'm happy to learn they increased the violence. Thanks for the review!

I don't know anything about 300 and when and where it is set, but Hannibal of Carthage used elephants to cross the Alps and attack the Romans. To this day no one knows where got them.
