Anyone have experience with transitioning aging parents from senior apartments to a home? Emotional

aspects as well as technical stuff? We are losing nursing homes here in Maine, and whatever Maine care and Medicare offer will have to cover my FILs stay wherever that turns out to be. He can't live on his own anymore. Two bad falls this week show that it's time.

1. Have you tried getting him physical therapy. Sometimes it is posdible

To correct or improve tge underlying conditions that are causing the falls.

2. Also a medication check to see what he's taking, and how much. Some meds can cause you to be

off-balance.

5. Correct.

The falls are usually not because of balance issues but because of loss of muscle strength in the legs. Physical therapy can be helpful in those cases.

3. In home care?

Will insurance pay for in home care? At least as a staring point, which would allow you a little more time to research possible living facilities?

6. We used Health & Human Services dept where I live

They then sent info on homes that had space available. When I called the first one they wanted to come to the house to meet mom, to see if it'd be a good fit. She's been there going on six years now.
