Having trouble getting a seed to sprout.

I bought these White Widow seeds a little over a year ago. I used one early last year and didn't have any problems getting it to sprout. That mother plant produced 8 clones and after they were all harvested I stopped growing for the last 6 months. Now bored I thought well I could do another grow during the winter. I have these seeds stored in my refrigerator in a airtight glass jar. Using Crop King directions of soaking a seed in spring water until it sinks, then wrapping it in a wet paper towel between two plates and then placing it in a warm place and checking every now and then to make sure it doesn't dry out. It's been over a week and still not sprouting. So now this morning I started another seed. Did I store the seeds wrong? Any helpful tips on getting my seeds to sprout?

1. I have been using Crop King WhiteWidow seeds for years now

and everyonce in a while it just doesn't sprout. Crop King says they have an 80% germination rate and I have found that to be true in my case so about 2 out of every 10 seeds will not sprout no matter what. If your second seed germinates then no, you did not store them wrong.

I love White Widow strain. It gets this old man going and more active during the day. I need a good, short and easy couch lock strain to grow that will help me sleep. With a high different than WW any suggestions?

2. Some seeds take a little longer...

One time I started 2 seeds at once, which is my normal practice, same strain. One popped in 3 days, the other took 11 days.
Even the grow I’m doing currently one bean popped …the other took a week. Gardening what fun!

5. Did you scarify the seed?

Give the seed a little scratch with a nail file before soaking in wet paper towel.

I’ve not tried it with cannabis seeds, but have scarified other hard seeds before sprouting.

7. No, but now I remember reading somewhere that

someone recommended lightly sanding the seed with sandpaper before soaking the seed. Thanks

6. If you don't have one going already,

Try to grow twins as they seem to prefer to grow next to each other. I just put my seed in soil and try not to overwater it. I started 6 seeds at once last year and only 3 lasted and produced plants.

8. Since seeds are expensive, I normally start

just one a year and clone the hell out of it. Hopefully I will get both seeds to sprout and then I'll clone the strongest plant! Thanks

21. You don't want autoflowering seeds. They say they are next to

impossible to clone. Some strains like WW are easy to clone. I made my own cloning cabinet, with a cheap led light, heatpad, and plastic dome made by putting together two hanging basket over watering trays or whatever they call them. I can easily clone 3 cuttings at one time. Usually around a couple weeks I'll see roots then it's time to plant in bigger pots.

That had to be close to two weeks, never had one to take that long before.

12. I soak my seeds for 24 hours in

coconut water- Anything that floats is not going to sprout.

24 hours only, then transfer to damp paper towels until it sprouts
a 1/4- 1/2 inch tail- then ready for transfer into soil.

Works amazingly well for me

I’ve had both sinking seeds and floating seeds grow fine. I also see no reason to keep seeds in a refrigerator- just a dry cool place. When the seeds are between paper towels - they love a sunny window to sprout.

The seeds that float will likely be more disease and pest prone-
as they are not usually strong/robust.

I'm growing using a technique called Korean Natural Farming KNF
Have you heard of this- Talk about strong and robust results.

17. I just looked it up and it's similar to what I am doing

I have been growing organic vegetables for years in high raised beds that have 20 yrs of compost and organic chicken manure plus dark soil I gather from under my pine and juniper trees. I never use agricultural chemicals and I water with well water. I would never think of using a pesticide or herbicide. I know what you mean about strong/robust - I bought some organic plant food but had no need to even use any of it. Here in NM you can grow 12 plants a household now and all my friends & neighbors are growing but mine were the best (all my friends agreed). You cannot beat good soil that you make yourself. My chickens only eat organically too - so no chemicals there either. I found that I really can't overdo the chicken manure. Lots of rabbits running around here to and when it rains, I find clumps of rabbit manure that ran down the hills and settled in indentations on my land - I gather it up too for the boxes.

I've been doing lots of baking for my girl friends. I have two good friends who are very ill - one with MS and the other with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and it feels good to supply them with cookies for their pain. I grew a CBD plant too, Blue Shark, so I can add some to the mj butter for pain.

I love that you are caregiving. I am now a cannabis nurse. (Not an NP who can certify),
I teach best strains for conditions as well as best routes of administration, dosage, etc.
Started when my husband was diagnosed with cancer and given the 6month get your
affairs in order stage 4 type. ith RSO or FECO he got 4 vibrant and thriving years.

Forward the clock 6 years later. I am part of a cannabis craft co-op in Mass that will become
the first operational co-op. We are building infrastructure now and hope to be operational by
July. Too late for a full outdoor grow, but we can start using our state-of-the-art climate-controlled
greenhouses with light dep, all the bells and whistles.

A real nice way (easy/ no mess worth the 350 investment) to get your oil fully decarbed is with the Ardent Flex- I've been playing
around and have finally got an amazing gummy as well as chocolate recipe.

For shits and giggles I just ground up some psilocybes and made dual canna mushrooms edibles.
That was fun.

I will be looking into the Ardent Flex. Right now I’m decarb ing in the oven and then spraying with Everclear before using the crockpot for 5-6 hrs. Your duel gummies sound like something my other half would love. So, how are you making your gummies- with coconut oil? I have just been covering decarbed pot with Everclear and putting it in freezer for a week - then straining it. I definitely think my gummies could taste better. I’m using organic grape juice, gelatin, honey, corn syrup and extract but they are not sweet enough. It’s hard covering up that Everclear taste.

Glad you were able to extend your husbands life and it’s nice to hear you are extending that help to others too.

What strains are you recommending for pain? Headband is one I have grown. Are you growing some CBD strains too? I’ve also made CBD salve for pain with coconut oil. I got the recipe from the Sisters of the Valley - the activist nuns.

I absolutely love NM - I grew up in NJ - went to art school in NY. One of my teachers got a professorship at UNM - and asked some of his students to join him so we could still study with him out here. It was never on my radar as a place to live. That was yrs ago and I can’t imagine living anywhere else.

20. The canna i use in my gummy recipe

i use 2 different extracts in my gummy recipe

The ETOH pro by Extract Craft gives me a very thick RSO type oil that I mix with some
coconut oil because it is fat-soluble and for edible cannabis to be better digested and work to its full potential
( unless talking nano-technology) it needs to bind to fat molecules. I also use sunflower lecithin to attempt
to keep the hand-mixed canna emulsion dose consistent.

Blue Dream is also good for pain.
and I do grow some higher CBD strains.

Some of my favs for anxiety PTSD True OG, Purple Mountain Majesty, White widow/lightening, Mountain Top Mint
Depression- Green Crack, Durban Poison, jelly rancher
