I can't wrap my head around

How people do not understand that yes taxes will go up for single payer but they won't be paying private health insurance anymore?! I see Bernie explain all the time I try explaining it to people and yet people just don't get it! Other than rich people why wouldn't every middle class American want it? Sry for the rant it just drives me crazy.

It's just myopic one dimensional thinking- they are incapable of seeing the big picture. Yes, your taxes will go up, but that will be offset by your savings on health insurance.

All they seem to hear is "your taxes I'll go up" and they go nuts. God, it's not that hard, people.

Instead of our household paying $900 a month, we'll be paying around (probably less than this)
$466 A YEAR! PER YEAR!

That's a whole LOT OF MONEY!

Print out Bernie's plan. It's on his web site. Sometimes people are just visual learners. If they read it, they may finally get it.

My mom is a republican she pays like $600 $700 a month for insurance. She has diabetes and went to get her shots for the month, they were $1300! She couldn't afford them so her doc had to switch her to a pill that's not as affective. She's against single payer because she says you don't get to pick your own doctors? I'm baffled she thinks this way!

$400 a YEAR (depending on family size and household income)...INSTEAD of $600-$700 A MONTH! That savings alone would pay for her insulin!

Her medicine will cost a small fraction of what it is today though. Drug companies have been put on notice. I cannot believe her insulin shots are $1300 a month! That's OBSCENE!

Keep talking to her. Who wouldn't want to save $10,000 a year? Print out the plan. Show it on paper! She could save a ton if money! She could afford her insulin that could save her life!

Right now, you have to choose a doctor who takes your insurance. If we're all on single payer, every doctor is paid by the same organization - the United States - so you could go to any doctor because they're all paid the same way.

If it's true but I think she thinks this because of Canada? But I'm not totally sure. I just know my parents would have a much better life if they weren't spending all their money on insurance and medicine! The fact she would rather pay that I don't get but i don't care I will fight for them!

by doing so you will no longer have to pay the middle man (the insurance companies) & because of that it will save you money.

I think he's making it too complicated & people don't get it. They hear the word taxes and that's all they hear.

14. There's a website where you can go and see how much you'd probably save under Bernie's plan.

I can't remember the name of it, but bernie is in the site name, I think. I saw it on the JPR site.

It's like I explained it to my mother: think how much better Daddy will feel when he doesn't have to worry about qualifying for the program that pays for the $2,000 pill he has to take twice a day. That's one million, four hundred and sixty dollars a year.

Or how much better it would be if her breast cancer came back like she worries about? Not having to be inundated with huge bills, or worry about co-pays or deductibles?
