I watched GDP jump the shark with attacks on single payer and ops about "people want free stuff" that looked like the writers were channelling Grover Norquist.

because there were comments like (paraphrasing) "the younger generations want free stuff from the older generations."

I know I read that.

Or I'm going crazy.

GenX will be the first generation in US history to die worse off than their parents. And Millennials are doing worse.

There's a lot of people who do not want to live up to the consequences of their decisions.

They should have turned right instead of left.

They certainly aren't Liberals/progressives.

They've got theirs and do NOT want to share. They support Wall St., the TPP, XL pipeline, prisons for profits, GMOs, wars, etc... It's bizarre.

Typical of the "I made it, so fuck the rest of you assholes" crowd.
It comes from the same "I made it all on my own" mentality that infects the super rich.
It's an attitude of entitlement.

The last 24 hours especially it's been there for everyone to see. They aren't hiding it anymore.

The Entitlement mentality cuts across racial/gender lines. They really do think the poor and disadvantaged are lazy; many here said so on many of those kinds of threads today. And just happen to be the one ones that have been the most vicious attackers.

It's not really about hating the Left to them, although it plays a good part. It's about hating the poor.

...are the two biggest variables. It's showing wealth, not income. Younger people tend to have higher debt, and not own much of value. Older people tend to have a lot more good stuff. If you're 65+, you're more likely to have a home paid off, that today is worth 10x more than what you paid for it. Not to mention other valuables that you've collected over the years.

Older people will have bigger incomes too, but the disparity will be much less.

Didn't read the comments, but don't expect most of them to be too constructive.

Edit to add:

For sure there is a disconnect, though. Boomers don't seem to be able to relate to the idea that you can no longer take a year or three off school to backpack around Europe, maybe or not finish school, then still have a good job available for you.

I'm scared to death for millennials, getting advanced degrees, and lucky to get anything better than a McJob. Corps will do everything they can to ensure it remains a buyer's market. 1998 ain't gonna happen again.
