Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumMy wife is a big fan of the Clintons.
She's loved them since Bill was running for his first term. We have a picture hanging on the fridge from when Bill came to town stumping for Hillary when she was running for president last time. When he was done with his speech, he came down to shake hands with people in the crowd. My wife was right there up front and when Bill got to her she gave him a big old bear hug.
I told my wife I was going to support Sanders when he announced he was running for president. I told her what I knew about him and she was kind of torn between him and Hillary.
There is a youtube video that is posted in this group about Bernie Sanders and a speech he gave to the Brookings Institute back in February. It's a very good introduction to Bernie and his policy ideas. The video is about an hour and ten minutes long. My wife watched it while I was at work today. She sent me a text and told me that she was going to vote for Bernie and that we need to send him money.
I think when people really listen to Bernie he will have that effect on a lot of them. Many working people in this country have been scammed into thinking that the Republican party is doing something positive for them. If people truly voted in their own self-interests in this country, we would not have an extreme right wing party like today's Republican party. At least it would be in a small minority. This would be a progressive nation and politicians like Bernie would be in the majority and not considered fringe candidates. I think Bernie can convince people of that if we can get enough people to listen to him.

(9,126 posts)But because with an open mind she considered the issues and what each candidate stands for. That does not always happen. But if we can get a lot more people to do that, we will go far.
Here is another great video with excellent sound and picture in case she wants to watch or share.

Another excellent way to get to know Bernie is through the Friday 'Brunch with Bernie' Hour on Thom Hartmann's program, M-F, 12-3 PM ET, on the FSTV (Free Speech TV) Channel carried on Dish and Direct TV, some cable providers and online live at, freespeech.org.
Bernie discusses issues with callers from all over the US, usually in the 12-2 PM ET time period. From healthcare to veterans and students issues the program offers a great chance, 'Town Hall' style to see Bernie in action. The Friday 'Brunch Hour' video is posted in this group or can be watched on YouTube.

(5,069 posts)Besides being edifying about Sanders background and an economics lesson - it illustrates Sanders BEFORE he was a presidential candidate, thus underscoring his credibility.
