Why will American socialism be different? That's the question that we need to answer for the skeptics

I had a short discussion with someone who had to flee her country when she was young because of a socialist regime and it dawned on me that potential voters may be judging Bernie by experiences that have no relevance in our country. What she said was, that the rich know what's coming and they have the resources to flee the country. I thought that was an odd remark since we have so many political checks and balances in place that would avoid the military takeovers that were common at one time in Latin America.

So, I'm just throwing it out there for those who are seeking minority votes from Latin Americans who may not understand that complete coups in America are near impossible. We will need to emphasize how Wall Street capitalism has harmed the economy, and that the socialism that will be introduced is a remedy to the imbalances that it has created.

Actual Democratic socialism advocates for economic democracy. Sanders probably did in the 70s, but it isn't a significant part of his platform this year.

It is near impossible to judge the true political impact of any political philosophy when they concur with military coups, IMO.

That promotes social legislation through the legislative process as defined by the U.S. Constitution, enacted by congress and signed by the President of the United States ...

A DEMOCRATIC PROCESS THAT IS FULLY COMPLIANT WITH THE U.S. CONSTITUTION

There is nothing nefarious about it .. It has nothing to do with Lenin, Mao or Marx ...

FDR, HST, DDE, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Hell, even Reagan promoted some sort of social legislation in the course of their administrations ...

Fire Department
Police Department
Public Schools
Social Security
Food Stamps
Military
The National Highway System
Public roadways and bridges
Public libraries

ALL are examples of Democratic Socialism that have existed, in some cases, for CENTURIES ...

Why is this so hard to understand? ... STOP buying into the anti-socialist malarkey ... American Socialism has been with us for a very long time, and has absolutely NOTHING to do with communism or 'classical' socialism, which is what the naysayers have used to confuse citizens for DECADES ...

Even Liberals can't figure this out? ... Sheesh .. No wonder every thing is so fucked up ...
