"No I won't yield!"

Fantastic rant by Bernie in 1992 against the military industrial complex:

"We're spending $287 billon a year on the military but we don't have a major enemy! I know it hurts your feelings! I know you're upset about it! I know you're hoping and praying that maybe we'll have another war! Maybe somebody will rise up. But it ain't happening! The Soviet Union doesn't exist! The Warsaw Pact is through! Who are you worried about? Iraq? Panama? Who are you worried about? I'll tell you who I'm worried about. I'm worried about our workers who are seeing a declining standard of living! They want to see our industry be rebuilt! That's what they want to see. No more B-2 bombers. No more Star Wars."

i cancelled my cable-tv subscription over 20 years ago because i felt toxified by the media, and felt like i'd seen all the tv i ever needed to (except movies).

i have only seen the 74 year-old bernie and i didn't realize he always consistently displayed the same principles; passion; compassion; political perseverence, and honest-and-decent commitment to social equality, economic, and cultural equality.

win or lose, bernie's america rules!

the agony of democracy is persuading people to vote for their best interests.

Look through Bernie's videos from the 1990's and 2000's. It is remarkable how prescient he was on so many issues and how he was talking about the same things then as he is now. I posted one earlier today on the GD: P board on Bernie warning about Too Big to Fail Financial Institutions while questioning Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan in 2000, 8 years before the financial meltdown and TARP bailout (which Greenspan said would never happen).

Here's one of Bernie from 1995 going after a homophobic Republican Congressman named Duke Cunningham, who later went to prison on the biggest case of bribery in the history of the U.S. Congress.

Bernie is the same person now that he has been for at least the last 35 years since he first won elected office as the mayor of Burlington, VT.
