https://armoryoftherevolution.wordpress.com/2016/04/20/time-to-transform-berniess-campaign-into-a-permanent-organization/So heres a rough outline of the plan:
The Sanders campaign announces that it will not end with the Democratic Convention or the general election, but win, lose, or draw, will continue on as a permanent mass organization.
The Sanders campaign agrees to fund several million dollars from its war-chest in start-up costs for such an organization.
The campaign assigns and/or hires several organizers from its national staff to coordinate the creation of such an organization.
Simultaneously, it assigns organizers on the national, state, local, and campus level to devote all or part of their time to building such an organization.
The campaign announces that it will make its email list available for communication with its supporters about the organization and, after the election campaign, to communicate and fundraise on its own.
The first building block would be an organizing meeting to be held in Philadelphia parallel with the Democratic National Convention.

(11,100 posts)all the Bernie Sanders supporters I know well are between the ages of 45 and 78. Each one of them hopes this movement will continue and most of them are willing to volunteer in that effort.

(36,063 posts)But really, thinking about Philadelphia is -short short term-. Short term is the need to be getting organized to hit the 2018 mid-terms like a tsunami of progressives, a Biblical flood of political reformers that will take the media 40 days and 40 nights to cover. But the goal is a movement that will re-shape American politics across a decade, and guide America into the mid 21st century
We need to identify races all across the nation where egregious self-serving corporatist candidates can be targeted, and we need to help progressives mount the challenges to those races. This is in part why working from inside the Dem party is important. Everywhere we successfully get a progressive nominated...we prevent a corporatist third-wayer (or whatever name they go by in 2018. We need to run basic training workshops for would be candidates and staff so that they can mount successful campaigns....
Like all social progressive and in the spirit of Eugene Debs... there's a need for on-going communications. The movement needs a virtual think tank. a stable full of great progressive writers and the organization to get it emailed and as necessary snail-mailed to everyone on his list of donors and supporters.
The movement also needs capable minds and effective media faces on all the political shows arguing about weekly contemporary problems from social progressive positions.
Remember SYMBOLMAN's Take BACK the Media? Sanders movement needs to -MAKE OVER- the Media, the movement needs to press itself into the media, where the media doesn't, direct access needs to be established with voters.
We really need people in the US getting educated about what's wrong with the US and just how social progressives think the broken things should look when they are reformed and once again functioning to serve people.
America deserves nothing less than the nation we can and will make over if we stay united.
