The downturn in the oil business has hit Houston hard and it hasn't started to turn around yet. I'm a bookkeeper and have been for over 8 years, but people laid off from O&G related businesses are taking any accounting job they can for a lot less money. I was making $50K. Some employers are offering as low as $30K.

I turned down one job, for good money, in early March because the commute was awful and I didn't like how they treated their vendors. That seemed like a good idea at the time.

Fortunately I developed some frugal habits from living on disability for 2 years. I have a little savings (about $15K), but I'm 59. It's a bad time to be 50+ and unemployed.

At least temporarily. I would just prefer to have a full time gig with an employer because I would like to buy a small house or a townhouse. It's hard to get a loan when you're self employed.

Better to pick up the phone & call. If you don't have a cell phone, you can buy one of those prepaid cell phones for cheaper than that.

called me the other day. I just apologize and tell them we are excited about our candidate.

It's really no big deal.

BUT when you call a Bernie supporter it makes it all worth while. Bernie supporters love other Bernie supporters and you will find that on the phones
