The end of the political era.

Last edited Sun Jun 12, 2016, 05:57 PM - Edit history (1)

Living as we do, struggling from day-today just to survive within a collapsing economy embedded within a collapsing empire embedded with a collapsing ecosystem. We must come to terms with the fact that we now inhabit a world where meaningful progressive change can no longer be facilitated through the political process. As society crumbles and resources dwindle, we must learn to hone our tactical abilities. Not just as a means for survival, but to achieve a lasting and practical path for humanity as we enter this new dark age. We have entered the Age of Great Consequence. We need to start treating every decision we make as if it were the most important decision we will ever make. When voting loses its power as a means of voicing suffrage. All other aspects of our daily lives must take up the slack in response. Vote with your feet. Vote with your bicycles. Vote with your gardens. Vote with your renewable energy. Vote with your every purchase. Vote with every special skill you have been graced with. Vote with your anger. Vote with your love. Vote with your life.

And nice to share feelings with them. I've had a real potty mouth lately, and have been calling her supporters all kinds of bad things.

And getting plenty of hides for it.

I know the rules here, but i just don't care anymore. After this week I'll be gone anyway, so I might as well go out with a bang.

Ironically, The yes men (and women) you speak of here at DU would probably hate this movie. I love the Yes Men, they're creative, gutsy, intelligent, and choose their targets well.

LOL at your post, it was quite funny, and loved your point about not wanting to belong to a site that doesn't scrutinize the politicians it supports. Agreed.

5. Suppression of the media, that started way back with Project Mockingbird, has
Sun Jun 12, 2016, 05:39 PM

been deemed a total success by the One Percent.

I consider myself somewhat of a political wonk. But even I didn't know that Bernie was given a 13 point lead over Clinton something like five days before the Primary here in California.

Thirteen points.

So what happens? The fact that so many progressives had to re-register as Democrats, and then they got ballots in the mail that were "Green" Party Ballots.

So they then end up with provisionals, unless they knew enough in's and out's of state voting rules to bring that "Green" Ballot in to be spoiled.

As of Friday, some 2.4 MILLION ballots in California had not been counted from the Tuesday Primary.

Yet Hillary was declared the Winner
[Are you kidding me?!?!?!?!?!

A lawsuit filed late in the week made a real difference, as the judge ordered that the uncounted ballots be counted. But it was difficult to get people in to each county to help with this counting, as the media didn't mention any of this.

OH, and the major announcement by the media that Hillary was the presumptive candidate, that sure didn't help any either. So all these factors combined allowed the media to say that Hillary won by 13 points! If all this funny business had happened in a foreign nation, UN election observers would be flown in to set things straight.

This is officially a totalitarian state.

Period.

10. Our votes are too powerful
Sun Jun 12, 2016, 11:00 PM
Jun 2016

The PTB simply has to control how our votes are counted, so the PTB can be certain of their future.

What is really irking me, is that on DU -- DU even, we have posters here that get away with making excuses for the vote counting control!

Not even the admins seem to care, even after all the evidence posted on their website!!

Were it up to me I'd banish every member here who replied with the lame excuses for the vote counting control by the PTB. If there is one subject that matters it is the vote counting control by the PTB, and all the evidence is being swept under the rug.

How stupid is that?

Mon Jun 13, 2016, 02:51 PM

Andy Stephenson was dying of pancreatic cancer, and the RW wonks were saying he had faked it to garner some $ 50K from DU members, and the Admins here would not make a statement in support of Andy? (They were, I guess, too scared of the RW types.)

The site back then had plenty of people who would jump on any pro-Kucinich OP as well. You would have thought Kucinich was George W's evil twin whenever a person viewed some of the slime thrown at pro-Kucinich remarks...

Same type of slime came the way of people posting about how the 2004 election was stolen.

Of course, when you consider how indie reporter Parry of Consortium News nailed Hillary to the Carville interference plays that twisted Kerry's arm (and brain) into conceding, maybe it now all makes sense: Hillary has been the candidate for the DNC since forever, and no one in the DNC wanted her to lose her chance to win it in 2008. 2012 or 2016 would have been just far too long for her to have to wait.

But karma proved to be a bitch. She had to wait until 2016 anyway.

I was here when Black Box Voting was first posted on DU. Before that I was suspicious of the computer counting which only a few eyes could see, as opposed to hand counting which takes many eyes.

Through it all the lack of recognition by the PTB tells me they know the game and they are controlling it.

They do so because it keeps them in power. In control. What's funny is that everyone who is not a damned fool or a suck up to the PTB, knows this, yet it is swept under the rug, and otherwise willfully ignored.

Frankly I gave up on this system. Bernie's campaign dragged me back in, but there ain't but one way out now.

After the 2000 election recount in Florida, where it was discovered Gore actually had more votes, the Florida legislature outlawed hand recounts.

They are not taking any chances with actually having accurate counts.

"Vote with your feet. Vote with your bicycles. Vote with your gardens. Vote with your renewable energy. Vote with your every purchase. Vote with every special skill you have been graced with. Vote with your anger. Vote with your love. Vote with your life."

Something as small and easy as this can be an act of revolution:

In 2006, my wife and I sold everything, cashed out everything, paid the penalties,
bought pristine, bubble-proof, inexpensive rural property with a spring, surrounded by National Forest and protected wilderness and move here from the Big City.
We carry no debt or mortgage. We have one debit card at a locally owned bank,
and Wall Street can live or die without our money or concern (only our contempt).

If we can avoid it, we buy nothing NEW or imported, buy 2nd hand or salvage and make it work....or do without.
We participate in a surprisingly active rural Black Market, bartering labor, expertise, produce, or unneeded items.

We build everything ourselves (no inspections, permits, or taxes). If it falls down...that is on us (literally).
We grow a good percentage of our own food (no GMOs, no herbicides, no non naturally occurring pesticides or fertilizers), and any excess is shared with less fortunate neighbors. We also keep chickens and honey bees. Local Honey is GOLD on the Black Market.

We have refocused on local Humanitarian Issues, but I'm still addicted to the disappointments and betrayals of our political system, something I pledged to leave behind, but have been unable to completely do so.

Our yearly goal is to produce MORE, consume LESS, and decrease our carbon footprint.

This is not for everybody. We have no dependents, good health and strong backs, and a complimentary skill set that makes this fun (most of the time).
We have been very lucky, but have aged over the last ten years, and the labor involved is becoming harder every year. The fact that our endeavors here are time limited is becoming very real.

We build everything with screws because it is easier to take something apart and rebuild it the right way after making mistakes.

Congrats on fixing your porch.
Four tries is about right for me.
Of course, the more one learns, the more visible obvious mistakes in earlier projects become, then try number 5 to fix it right Once and for All becomes unavoidable.

The Internet is a great help. There are now YouTubes on how to do or build almost anything. Neither of us had any experience or exposure to BeeKeeping, and researched it on the Net, ordered the equipment, and had the starter bees mailed to us.
Lucky for us, bees are very good at taking care of themselves, and we are far away from any poisons or pollution.

Thanks for the kind words.

Me to re-share your story of Blossom the rescue deer. I loved that post so much I re-shared. Hope you don't mind.

I have lost touch with Stewie, the deer the neighborhood kids rescued about four years ago.

I did see him last year. He was by then a huge buck with lovely antlers and he stood by the side fence. He wouldn't leave even as I was banging around with water containers. I knew it must be him. So I said "Hi Stewie" and I swear to goddess, he grinned back at me!

Are there any new additions to the Blossom story?

She joined the herd of does at a year and 1/2 old during mating season.
We believe we see her from time to time (does in our yard are a regular occurrence)....but how can you really tell?
They all look exactly alike. Occasionally, one seems to respond when we call her name,
turn toward us and make eye contact, and not immediately run off, but if it is her, she has definitely returned to the wild.

We would like to raise another, and are waiting for another rescue.

Feel free to use the story and photos anytime you wish.

In Calif., they should immediately contact the local Bernie Sanders group and sign up to help with the ballot counting.

Some Two Point Four MILLION ballots remained uncounted as of Thursday of last week.Since then, three counties have been taken from Hillary and shifted over to Bernie once the mail in and provisional ballots in those counties got counted.

Mon Jun 13, 2016, 07:32 PM
Jun 2016

Since people had until May 23rd to re-register as Dems, they may have found that they got their Old Party's designation on the ballot that was sent in the mail.

So if they didn't know all the various in's and out's of voting in the primary (And most people don't) then they probably didn't bring that ballot with them to the polls to be spoiled.

Without doing that, then they ended up with the provisional ballot, which is often left uncounted, even though that is not according to the rules here in California.

Bernie's supporters need to infiltrate all the local elected offices like the right-wingers did starting several years ago. Bernie's ideas will not die just because he didn't win the nomination. It should be up to everyone to continue the fight.
