Related: About this forumForget Party Unity: The New DNC EMAIL LEAK Means There's NO Going Back For Bernie Sanders’ Democrats
As Bernie Sanders delivered a livestream address to his supporters on Thursday about the future of his movement, he signaled an eventual end to the campaign. Encouraging his supporters to get involved, Sanders vowed to help Hillary Clinton defeat Trump conditional upon the Democratic Party adopting a real progressive agenda. However, earlier in the day news broke about a different story that undercut the Vermont Senators calls for eventual party unity. On the same website that published the DNCs 200-page Donald Trump oppo file, the hacktivist known as Guccifer 2.0 released what appears to be an internal email from the DNC discussing strategy, which served to confirm what many of Sanders supporters have felt all along: The Democratic Party leadership has had its thumb on the scale for Hillary Clinton in the primary. The email, dated May 26, 2015, about a month after Sanders announced his candidacy, revealed that at least some in the DNC were planning for a Clinton nomination:
In something right out of the Cold War, the DNC has claimed that these releases are part of a Russian disinformation campaign, but, according to FAIR, has provided no supporting evidence. But whatever the reason behind it, this leak has further incensed Sanders' supporters, and that is telling. It has been a long road to this point, but the fact that the 'Bernie Or Bust' Movement has grown to somewhere in the range of 3 to 4 million people (roughly a quarter to a third of Sanders' supporters) is as much a criticism of Hillary Clinton as a candidate as it is a condemnation of how the party has handled the primary. From the outset, there has been a perception of favoritism by the DNC leadership. Some of those concerns were due to the very fact that the DNC Chair, Debbie Wasserman Schultz was also Hillary Clinton's co-campaign chair in 2008. When Wasserman Schultz scheduled just six sanctioned debates at odd times when viewership would be predictably low, and after crucial deadlines to change one's voter registration in states like New York, and then threatened to ban candidates from those if they participated in unsanctioned ones, any hopes she'd had of appearing impartial were dashed.
-snip-
But it wasn't just Debbie Wasserman Schultz who soured Sanders supporters on the DNC. When news broke of a joint fundraising agreement between Clinton's campaign and the Democratic Party, many eyebrows were raised. Lee Fang of The Intercept then reported via Twitter that the DNC was funneling money into pro-Clinton super PACs. So close is the apparent relationship between the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party, it could hardly be seen as shocking when Vice reported that the Democratic Party even shared a headquarters in Carson City, NV with the Clinton campaign.
Here's DNC paying (more) $ to American Bridge, which funds & shares office w/Hillary's Super PAC Correct the Record
Lee Fang ?@lhfang
Over the last 7 months the DNC has provided $216,000 to American Bridge, which is part of the Brock/Hillary SuperPAC network.

(86 posts)Thanks for the post though. Not looking to Democrats for "justice" or "fairness" any more. This primary season took care of that little fantasy.
What I always end up telling my wife is, If enough rich folks want something done, it will happen. If enough regular folk want something to happen, it won't.
Time to move forward with a strategy for replacing the Democratic Party.

(13,685 posts)As defacto head of the party, this type of favoritism would not occur. If it were to occur, heads would roll. Where is Obama in all this? Did he quit fighting for us?

(5,792 posts)regarding the TPP until after the election. And Obama is telling his AG to not indict HRC because he was emailing her back and forth on that private unsecured server...that is what Obama has been doing...in the last few days I suspect. And Obama and the AG have said nothing relevant with regards to vote flipping, vote disenfranchisement, stealing affiliations from Dems and deleting them to throwing ballots away..The Administration has been silent on these extremely important issues.

(35,731 posts)First, it would show Obama knew about her server...played right along with it. Wow, how powerful is that? And the TPP emails--just on subject alone--would be highly inflammatory. Combine that with the server complicity and you have The Perfect Storm.
It's interesting that they took those emails out of the mix. On the surface, it looks like it's because of the topic matter, and it probably is. But also important, if those emails are taken out of the mix and there are no other Obama emails to her on that server, it also allows them to prosecute without getting Obama going down the drain with her.

(35,731 posts)They're just saying they would. They will come up with another excuse at that time.
Temporal excuses are the best excuses. That was my Master's degree thesis.

Could there be a basis for a lawsuit against the DNC in this, on the part of Bernie, Martin, and the other Democratic contenders?

that there might be grounds for a lawsuit.
No use wasting money betting on a horse if the outcome is rigged and you're not holding a winning ticket. Why spend the money in the first place?
How many people do you think would have donated to Bernie if DWS and the DNC came out and publicly announced that no matter how much money supporters donated to Bernie, Hillary was going to be the democratic nominee?

I hope O' Malley will weigh in on this, but it's possible that he'd want to stay on the good side of the Dems for next time.

(4,026 posts)This could be an unmasking of the process that has been obvious from the beginning, unless it's planted to sow discord and discourage Sanders voters in the primary. Trump is just the kind of guy to hire "the architect"

(36,063 posts)He's certainly the most bizarre Republican nominee in at least a century, and his numbers are tanking.
It seems that Bill Clinton's phone call with Trump supposedly took place in 'late' May. That would be about the time this memo was sent.
I don't want to promote conspiracy theory, just that saying producing the worst republican candidate was clearly on the poobahs' minds at the time that call happened.
