Kamala Harris a tough sell before Bernie Sanders' CA crowd

Reps. Barbara Lee and Ro Khanna are good friends and two of the most progressive Bay Area House members. But Khanna definitely had the easier time of it when they advocated for rival presidential candidates before the California Democratic Party’s influential progressive caucus Friday night.

It was a tough crowd, however — the progressive caucus is heavily tilted toward independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, whose campaign is co-chaired by Khanna, a Fremont Democrat. Even after Lee spoke on behalf of Harris, many of those in the crowd chanted, “Ber-nie! Ber-nie! Ber-nie!”

Harris isn’t even in the second choice of many progressives in the caucus, said the group’s outgoing chair, Mark Van Landuyt:
“Most here are for Bernie, then after that it’s Elizabeth Warren,” Van Landuyt said. “They have faith that he will do the things he’s promising. We’ve been burned by politicians who promised but haven’t delivered.”

While Harris was attending a private fundraiser Friday at the home of billionaires Ann and Gordon Getty in San Francisco, Sanders was stopping by the Latino and labor caucuses at the convention.

“He’s doing his homework,” Khanna said in an interview.

but sadly she blew it with her past heritage claims. if it weren't for this, I am convinced that she would be second in the polls (trouncing Bernie). But the reality is that she has been politically damaged, IMHO, by Trump's repeated and effective attacks on her.

It is highly unlikely that she will become the nominee and her chance of being a running mate is even less likely as she would be a drag on the ticket. I can just see all of the GOP ads addressing her by the nickname that was given to her by their leader. This is something that she will never be able to overcome. Real talk.

Californian who supported Sanders in the primaries last time, and who is supporting Harris this time around. She will do very, very well in the California Primaries- and they are early this time around. My gut says she will be the nominee, and I think she can beat Trump. She’s incredibly smart and skilled, good on the issues, a great speaker, has a really strong campaign infrastructure. I will support whoever the nominee ends up being (as I did last time- stopping Trump is priority #1) but on top of really liking her, I think things look really good for her at this point.

This is a guy who cannot get his stuff passed through even *one* house of Congress even when he is actually IN Congress. You think he can do that from the Oval through a base-led cult of personality? Okay... well if that is such an obviously established phenomena, then why has Trump failed to do exactly that? Oh, right, because that is not how reality works...

Seems somewhat wrong to do that, but it is what it is.

So, tonight, there has been an OP that used made up data to distort Joe Biden's environmental record, now one that makes it seem Senator Harris was roundly rejected in a key Super Tuesday state, when in fact she was warmly received by most of the convention goers.
