The issue with Biden is NOT whether it's okay or not to support the Hyde Amendment

Bottom line: this is a Congressional Issue, and if Democrats took control of the Senate and abolished it, I have no doubt that President Biden would sign the legislation.

The REAL issue is that Biden has stumbled on a policy position that puts him at odds with virtually every other Democratic candidate at the moment in history when Alabama, Georgia and Ohio have made reproductive rights a focal point of the Presidential campaign, AND his campaign staff seems unable to respond quickly and put out a clear message as to what his position on this key issue is.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

You call the Hyde amendment a key issue. It is a moot one since, as according to your own post, emmaverybo Jun 2019 #5

that primary opponents have been "waiting on". It could be just about anything. The wagon-circling is all.

repealing it would be up to Congress.
Then you mention a perilous time in abortion access given Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio’s politics. However, Biden has made it more than clear that he supports abortion rights, even to the extent
that he has been in the cross-hairs of his church’s leadership.
You say he bumbled when he misheard a question and his campaign made immediate correction.
So amid a furry of criticism for his position on Hyde, he has not provided an instant statement, perhaps a tweet, or hastily called presser.
Good.
I am glad to see he and campaign are deliberating.

But if he were to become the president, he would be leading the Democratic Party, therefore his position matters a great deal.

Saying he has made it clear that he supports abortion rights is not as clear as it could be, obviously, or we would not be having this discussion nor would both NARAL and Planned Parenthood release very angry public statements on his Hyde amendment public policy position.

I would go so far as to suggest that it would be very difficult to get the nomination without the support or endorsement of NARAL or PP.
