https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/13/us/politics/democratic-debates-2020.htmlThe Democratic National Committee is set to announce the candidates who qualified for the first debates of the 2020 presidential campaign on Thursday, chopping the historically large field of 23 contenders down to the 20 available slots.
A New York Times analysis of the criteria indicates that Gov. Steve Bullock of Montana, Representative Seth Moulton of Massachusetts and Mayor Wayne Messam of Miramar, Fla., did not qualify, and will be left out of the debates on June 26 and 27 in Miami.
The candidates who made the cut a full list appears at the end of this article did so by registering 1 percent support in three polls, receiving donations from 65,000 people, or both.

That's one reason why I think Tester would make the best Veep candidate: he can reach paranoid white gun owners.

(26 posts)I know Bullock started late, but I can't fathom how a sitting US governor of a red state is not at the first debate, but we have Williamson and Yang who are not serious candidates being there. I know there are debate rules and thresholds, but this just doesn't sit right with me.

(89,279 posts)i think actually having won election and getting actual votes is more important than how much money you can get in a month or whatever.
they could maybe do something like they should have been in office within the past 7 years or something like that to prevent people like gravel who haven't been in office for decades from getting in.
