Pete Buttigieg: ‘Why Not’ Start a First Family in the White House?

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said he would be open to starting a family while serving as president. This Sunday marks his one-year wedding anniversary with husband Chasten Buttigieg. “I don’t see why not,” the candidate and mayor of South Bend, Indiana, said in a Father’s Day television interview on CNN’s State of the Union. Buttigieg said “it wouldn’t be the first time that children have arrived to a first couple, but obviously that’s a conversation I had better have with Chasten before I go into it too much on television.” If nominated, Buttigieg would become the first openly gay presidential nominee from a major political party.

1. I loved how he corrected Tapper politely about "Democratic" party vs. "Democrat" party.

Tapper said “Democrat” party in a question, which pissed me off.

Buttigieg came back with the answer to whatever the question was saying “DEMOCRATIC” party twice and with emphasis.

It was perfect. This guy is good.

2. Tapper was such a wanker today...

He, a father himself, at work, attempted to guilt trip Beto for having campaign events today before flying home. I used to like him but his coverage of Beto has turned me off and I don't usually watch him at all anymore.

3. I only caught part of it, so I missed that.

But the Democrat thing really ticked me off. I used to like him too, but that was a real tell.

Too bad.

5. Beto came out very, very strong about Impeachment

Explaining why it needs to be started. Tapper was trying so hard to make Beto look bad but he was unsuccessful. I posted a link in one of those click bait threads started about Beto to imply he did something horrible when in fact it's just twisted nonsense and a big fat nothingburger if you want to see it.

8. I quit Tapper, CNN and Cable Noise for good

When Tapper used the last segment of his show to sell his book.

Cable “News” is just BS.

I've never heard that expression in my part of the country.

17. Wanker is an English expression.

Wanking is jerking off; it’s an insult even if it no longer means strictly that.

4. Yes! I love that he corrected-every Dem should. So what's up with Tapper? He knows better.

Missed the interview so thanks!

6. I know, I was doing something else but listening to the show, and that made me look up quickly.

Like, did I just hear that? I ran it back, and he sure said it.

Loved the way Buttigieg handled it, but it really makes me wonder about Tapper.

13. "Democrat" Party is the term Repubs use to disrespect the actual name of our party. Who used that

term? Tapper or Buttigieg? I hope it wasn't Buttigieg.

10. If anyone's confused about how a gay man can still have male privilege, this is it.

If a 37-year-old woman talked about starting a family while president, the reactions would be very different.
