I am watching the NYT interactive of the Pres. Candidates

Very helpful ,well put together of the same list of questions asked of each candidate, very short replies, about 2 minutes max.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/us/politics/2020-candidate-interviews.html

IMHO...Warren and Buttigieg both are extremely intelligent, very on top of the issues, have plans they have thought thru, give specific answers to questions. Buttigieg answers and succinct yet clear, Warren's more detailed.
they would make a hell of a team.

and why did Biden not participate, wonder.

1. If Biden is the best guy to beat trump, I'm all for him. But he needs to up his game soon.

The other 22 candidates took the survey. Why only one holdout? An answer of "Playing it safe," doesn't work for me.

supporters may hope for a coronation, or "hope springs eternal". We are Democrats. We expect our candidates to earn our vote. Am I mistaken?

In fairness, I don’t hear him talking about coronations.

It is probably good advice. The foot extractions can be costly.

compared to even Harris, Booker, etc they come off as laser focused and like they have immersed themselves in the issues.
Buttigieg is esp. good at concise yet deep answers.

...a list of questions, a survey, etc., doesn't mean that every candidate HAS to respond.

Was there a deadline for responses?

and when the paper of record sends out their survey, you have to be stupid not to answer it.

9. NYT asked candidates back in April.

And the sequences of the questions were done over a period of time, from what I saw in the NYT blurb.
So it's not like everyone showed up the same day.

I will say, tho, Joe is being castigated today about his Tallmadge references, and unfairly, IMHO.

I understood him to be saying that even back in the Dixiecrat days, when a racist was an upfront racist, there were still civil manners in Congress, that people did not let disagreement on issues get in the way of other issues where they could work together.

I hear it that way cause I know that time period well, and I know how things work in the South as far as being polite and civil to one another.

But, sounds like younger people did not hear him clearly, and he must be wondering how he got his foot in his mouth.
He got whapped by the generation gap, I think.

So says the article.

I guess Joe has anointed himself the winner already, so there is no need for him to participate.

Sec Castro is always a pleasant surprise. I tend to think of him as milquetoast, but he has good forward looking ideas
