Pence touts Latino support for Trump in Miami ahead of Democratic debates

The vice president predicted Democratic candidates will advocate higher taxes, more regulation and "socialist" policies in this week's debates.

June 25, 2019, 1:21 PM EDT

By Monica Alba

MIAMI — Vice President Mike Pence rolled out a coalition of Latino support for the Trump campaign in Miami on Tuesday, a day before Democrats are set to spar here in the first presidential debates of the 2020 cycle.

Pence mentioned the two-night event several times throughout his remarks, claiming the opposing side will “advocate more taxes, more regulations, something called 'Medicare for All' and the Green New Deal.”

He predicted a lot of “finger-pointing” from the candidates but argued that the president has done more on immigration in recent weeks “than Democrats have done in the last 10 years.”

As the Trump administration continues to confront difficult questions over its southern border policies and handling of family separations, Pence defended the moves more generally as “taking decisive steps to secure” the country amid a “humanitarian crisis.”

The vice president continued to call on Congress to “close the loopholes” and said “thanks to President Trump’s leadership,” Mexico has “stepped up” and helped alleviate the flow of migrants into the United States.

Latinos, the buffoon has done so much for immigration, he is keeping your families out of the country, but those we catch we first separate the families, we then place the little children in cages. As Latinos, it should warm your heart to see all the little Latino children in their cages with no soap, no toothbrush, no showers, and the buffoon and I promise to continue this cruel practice for as long as we are in power, so vote for us so that we may carry more of these tortures, heil the buffoon!

Yes, that should convince a lot of people.

On a non-DU forum in which I have participated for about ten years
there are several members who are Cuban,
who came to the US as children in the late 1950s,
and now live in Florida.

They love Trump and are for anything/everything to destroy Cuba.

They also consider members of the "Democrat" Party to all be 'socialists' who want to turn Amerika into a communist country.

They reject my suggestion that they return to Cuba to work there for a free Cuba.

I suspect there is a sizable 'conservative' group of hispanics in Florida.

But the younger generation voted for the Republicans in far less numbers than the older generation.

whose ancestors came over in the 1950s but they moved to the Democratic party, particularly during the W administrations. This I know from family; and there still is a Cuban American sector that votes far right.

> When will Dems. start using the "F" word, for FASCISM, which is exactly what we're dealing with now.

may not kiss Trump-ass with Pence's level of reverence and glee, but she'd surely make the 2020 race closer. All of Trump's advisers must have mentioned it to him that by now.

Pence better make contact with Dan Quayle and maybe get an idea what the remainder of his miserable life's going to be.
