Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumNever would have guessed the main issue in 2020 campaign would be busing.
Good thing there aren't any current issues that need attention.

(3,433 posts)... The central issue is the rose of authoritianism. White nationalism is the most obvious display but authoritianism goes far broader. The modern Christian movement, while not white nationalism, is definitely becoming authoritian.

I before this whole discussion is designed to pull black voters away from Biden in South Carolina.

(2,511 posts)Then they can move on to relevant issues. All I want to know is what programs they plan to propose, how much will it cost, and how they plan to pay for it. Bread and butter issues will win the day.

(15,051 posts)That is rather straw-mannish. Even those who want to push the convo on this topic against Biden are (I'm sure with some exceptions) not claiming it is the *main* issue...
Unless you are trying to complain that Biden supporters are making this the "main issue" of the campaign. That seems truer, based on the same data set, than the former interpretation.
Everyone running for POTUS is trying to convince us that they will make good decisions. Not just decisions that are popular at the time, but decisions that are moral and just, and will lead to good outcomes in the future, when the POTUS/policy in question is long gone but the consequences of those decisions remain. I think it is very much in doubt that Biden made the correct policy decision there -- even if it helped him win the next election -- and as such the topic is quite relevant for a person seeking the office of POTUS.

(191 posts)I'm 43 and most people my age and younger don't even know what the heck busing is. Whether you agree or disagree with busing doesn't matter cause it's OVER now anyway! Who cares? Busing stopped cause it was so unpopular with everyone.

(26,366 posts)Not sure why a Biden supporter would want to help keep the issue alive by making an original post on the issue though.

(34,185 posts)Joe Biden, one more chance, are you ready to admit that your anti-bussing vote helped segregationists continue to segregate black children from white children?
