Elizabeth Warren reintroduces legislation requiring corporations to disclose climate risk exposure
Sen. Elizabeth Warren reintroduces legislation that would force companies to disclose their exposure to climate-related risks.
The measure requires fossil fuel companies to release even more detailed reports and pushes firms to switch more quickly to cleaner and more efficient energy sources.
The announcement comes amid growing investor concerns that assets are priced insecurely because of certain climate risks that are not being factored in.

This is a great issue to bring forward during a campaign. And before anyone goes and calls this a "publicity stunt" just remember that even though this has zero chance of getting through the Senate, this is how Senators and Representatives bring attention to issues during a campaign that would otherwise go unnoticed.

(1,810 posts)2. Additionally, it leads to solid legislation down the road.
Similar to some of the pieces AOC and Sanders have put forward. Think tanks, industries, and advocacy groups will put these pieces of legislation through their ringer. They will give full feedback and re-write sections. In a handful of years we will hopefully have solid majorities and the pieces of legislation will be complete at that point. Ready for debate and a vote.
