Trying to paint VP Biden as some out of touch latent racist..

is not going to work with me..never in a million years.. all it does is make me take a MUCH closer look at others records.. recent and 40 years ago.. and I know I have picked the right person.. at 2% or less you will never be President Booker and DeBlasio.. and you may very well be remembered as skewing the party in an desperate attempt to gain ground you could not do on policy an ideas.. I hope not..

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

Democratic voters off and it will be very hard to regain any confidence or respect that is lost. Attack Trump or republicans in congress, but when they go after a well established and much loved Democrat, they are losing ground.

Before asthma kept him out of the draft, he worked a summer job as a lifeguard at a pool in Wilmington. They named it, or at least the lifeguard stand, after him a couple of weeks back.

This picture was even more iconic:

Because I think one or two of the kids has figured out what is standing between them and going in the pool.

And, yep, the sign reads "Joseph R. Biden Jr. Lifeguard Chair"

I thought it was a made up picture from someone like the Russians or the republican bots who make up stories and re-do pictures to try and smear our people.. that Joe Biden was keeping children from swimming in a pool.. you know, I had to run over to do an errand.. and I am so glad I did.. because .. hand to God.. I was going to come back in and alert on that picture.. so glad I did not.. A terrible case of ASSUME on my part..

Wilmington names pool after Joe Biden, former lifeguard

Former Vice President Joe Biden returned on Monday to a place he said helped shape his perspective on race relations: Prices Run Pool.

"I owe you all," said Biden at the event, surrounded by African-American children in their swimsuits. "I owe this neighborhood. I learned so, so much."

In a ceremony, the facility in Brown-Burton-Winchester Park was renamed the Joseph R. Biden Jr. Aquatic Center. The name change commemorates Biden's early connection to the pool where he was the only white lifeguard in the summer of 1962.

At the time, in an era of racial dissent, Biden said he was a suburban kid who wanted to broaden his personal network.

"I wanted to get more involved," he said. "I'd turn on the television and I'd see and listen to Dr. (Martin Luther) King and others, but I didn't know any black people. So, I wanted to work here."

Biden said his dozen black fellow lifeguards "treated me as an equal," and they taught each other about race and privilege.

I don't care what any of his rivals in the campaign say. He is a genuinely decent man. I remember him over the years, he comes to my city regularly and I understand what it is to have current standards turned around on you for your past (I know there is an amazing German word for that phenomena).

I read his campaign website on the issues and I agree with most of them. The only reason I have not chosen Joe is because I also really like Sen. Amy K.

Tue Jul 23, 2019, 04:05 PM

Particularly Biden. He's the longest standing Democrat on the campaign stage.

If anyone says "Biden can't go from a racist to a former racist. We're better than that ..." then

YES WE CAN

go from a racist to a bigot to better than that. Humans evolve. No one knew that better than Obama.

If you mean, WE can't evolve, then how can you say "we're better than that." That makes no sense.
Of course any human can evolve.

Obama did over gay marriage, on marijuana legalization, and other issues like bipartisan effort. Why? Because times change, the country's people change.

That is why Biden has evolved in women's issues and race issues. You think our previous presidential candidate (Obama) could evolve but any current ones cannot? Pffft

To say one candidate can evolve and the other cannot is to set up false divisions within our part and a double standard.

If you want the party to win, these double standards any form of purity tests have to stop.

A party's house divided against itself cannot stand.
