Contained within the video below. The union accepted the same offer that was brought forth by the campaign a couple months ago. Everyone gets a raise and most staffers will receive health insurance paid for 100% by the campaign.
For context, the staffers in Bernie's campaign were previously making what is considered standard wages and benefits for political campaigns. Now they will be the highest paid staffers of any campaign in the race. Will other campaigns follow?

Perhaps this is the reason BS' campaign finally gave in:

(1,810 posts)The CEO and management have been fighting it for months. At least one union member felt forced to go public. Sanders then immediately caved.
Now there is an investigation starting to look into Sanders labor practices.

(7,869 posts)For starters, the campaign didn't bring forth this offer. They offered $42k/year, but then the UNION brought up that would conflict with the original union contract that those making that amount would have to pay for portions of their healthcare premiums.
Also, where are you getting that his staffers will be the highest paid staffers of any campaign? There are already several campaigns that pay their staffers more than $42k/year.

Elizabeth Warren's campaign workers are unionized. Why haven't we seen issue there?

(12,165 posts)Good pay and fully-covered insurance... thats the minimum of what every worker deserves. And the Sanders campaign is showcasing how organizing a union happens warts and all. Its getting a lot of coverage.
So many states have right to work laws that have practically eliminated unionized jobs. That has made the the concept of why a union is important something thats foreign to a lot of Americans. The Sanders campaign is demonstrating a model union to people who would not otherwise be exposed to one.
This wasnt by accident, and its really smart to get the point across about the power of organizing.

(12,165 posts)Are you trying to make the argument that being a union employee is inferior? Because thats what it sounds like. There are more benefits to being in a union beyond salary.

(31,261 posts)You seemed to have pulled that out of thin air. The point made was that out of the gate other campaigns gave their employees what Sanders had to be pushed to give.

(5,969 posts)The optics surely weren't great when his own campaign workers had to complain about honoring a crucial policy proposal of their own campaign. It rahter looks as if the campaign needed to get shamed into this new contract.

(12,165 posts)I think we are in sort of an alternative reality here. Most people arent following the minutiae of the campaigns, and this will get distilled down to Sanders has unionized employees.
The argument, but the other campaigns pay more, is basically the same argument that right-to-work states and anti-union workplaces have used forever.
