Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumHere's my plan for the rest of 2019 and the Democratic Primary race:
Do nothing.
I'll watch and see how it goes. Then, when 2020 begins, I'll begin posting new threads in the Democratic Primaries forum again. Right now, it doesn't look like anything valuable is occurring here. Polls go up. Polls go down. Both on the turn of a headline.
Biden's still in the #1 spot in primary polls, and leads in head-to-head presidential election polls. I'm good with that, at this point. In the end, I expect him to become the Democratic nominee.
The discussion here is too chaotic to make a lot of sense right now, so I'm going to wait and see how it all shakes out. Certainly, nothing I post here will make a difference, anyhow, so why bother? I have work I could be doing, 95-year-old parents to worry about, and other interests.
So, fight on, folks. Support whomever you wish. See you in January...once this thread has run its course, anyhow.

(19,565 posts)Here in Texas there's a focus on women and minority voters.
Trump has a 1 point approval rating edge in the state currently and he's underwater here with women and minority voters by a considerable margin. So, I'm doing what I can where I can rather than wasting time fighting on forums. I do find the polls interesting, but for the most part I'm just focused on who I think will resonate the best with Texas voters. Biden leads Beto here by 10 points currently.

(2,113 posts)Beto's volunteer army knocking on doors in Texas have it being a race between two candidates in Texas...Beto or Trump, and Beto is ahead by 38% even with Republicans in deep red districts. I'm not sure who they are polling, but it's not at all reflective of what those canvassers are seeing on the ground.

(12,051 posts)and until the Dem field shakes out and we have a nominee, there's not much else to say. I've got a grandkid to play with, several paintings in process, an upcoming camping trip, some knitting and crocheting to finish, and a nature journal to work on. And I'm not getting any younger.
I must say that I DID jump in to the thread that is discussing the Presidential seal prankster -- I just had to post the site from which people can buy items with the pranked seal. I hope that person makes a million dollars. That Dump was pranked (and nobody, not even the SS) stopped it, is comedy gold and caused my first belly laugh in months. For those who are interested, the site is:

(12,051 posts)I have been spending more time outside (just took the grandkid on a long walk in nature!), and this afternoon I'm working on a small acrylic painting of a caddis fly larva for a local contest. IOW, I'm doing all those other life things that make existence interesting.

(36,307 posts)Working on converting the back yard into a 2800 sq. ft. vegetable garden and orchard with 11 fruit trees and a 34' row of raspberries.
Yesterday I delivered 3 days worth of emergency drinking water to the homes of extended family who live in town (3). I also set aside here 3 days worth of water for my neighbors who have 5 kids.
I set up a 275 gallon water tote behind the storage building near the garden to be used to water the garden. I plan putting up rain gutters on the building to direct water to the water tote.
Saving up money to to have on hand a rain water capture system. My wife won't let me install it but I'll have it on hand to put in place if the need arises. Bottled water and the water in the 40 gallon water heaters will last only so long.
Gathering materials to install a waterless toilet in the basement.
Learned to pressure can food and have built shelves in the basement to hold several dozen quarts of various canned foods. Already have 37 quarts on the shelves.
Got a portable electric generator so I can keep the fridges and freezers cold at least until most, if not all, the food in them is consumed.
Made up an inventory list for a 7 day emergency food stock for me, my wife and extended family who live in town. A total of 18 people. As the stock consist of item I use on a regular basis, I already have some on hand. I just have to increase the quantities and since I do use it, there will be a regular rotation of stock.
The above is just some of the things I'm doing or have already done.

(146,317 posts)If it comes to that, though, I will not be living where I am now. So, there's no reason to implement something like that in my neighborhood of St. Paul, MN. I would be heading for another place long before I could use any of that.
