(58,785 posts)we shouldn't try. That way lies the rabbit hole. We should always search out the truth and look it squarely in the face. That way lies dignity, honesty, knowledge, and, who knows, maybe even a smidgen of wisdom.
Right now, millions of Democrats favor Biden as their leader. That may change, but for the past half year, even before he announced, he's been and remained far ahead of his nearest competitor. No amount of denial by gaming what a leader is and means to you, etc., will change that.
A leader HAS appeared. What happens next -- with a fickle electorate, in a political world gone crazy, and in a nation occultly at war with foreign powers -- we can honestly speculate about.

(7,142 posts)won both debates, if you get my drift.
Joe is going to have to have better answers ready. He never answered why Obama deported more people than Trump, he should have seen that question coming.
Harris dropped off from her first debate, Tulsi roughed her up pretty good.
I said before the debates that cnn and msnbc are going to try to bring down, Bernie, Warren, Harris, and Biden.
Just look at the questions they asked.

that if you believe your candidate won a debate in which she didnt even participate, you might think about cutting back on the Kool-Aid.

(8,144 posts)and he said essentially that Obama was the boss and he was not going to discuss any private
recommendations he made to Obama during his tenure.
He has said he recommended against the Bin Laden raid and that he was wrong.
You are never going to get him to second-guess Obama.

(11,949 posts)DU doesnt decide leaders.
Only voters do. Right now we have no voters so the only thing we do have is polls.
According to them we definitely have a leader.
That may well change. History says it will But to act like a talk head carries more weight is delusional.
We have a leader and he will still be leading this time next week.
We will see what happens when we dont have 20 people on stage.

(11,949 posts)Rather what a talking head thought.
Which is fine. As is you thinking there is no leader.
But in the only way we have to decide a leader it is Biden.
That may well change. History says it will.
But as of today, we definitely have a leader.

(424 posts)And ya I am supporting her, but it is for exactly that reason. I like a whole lot of other of our Democrats and ready to jump on board. But, out of the field, I think Warren is the only one that really has stood out.

He was referring to an elder statesman figure for the party... Say a past President that could sit all the candidates down and help them understand the enemy is NOT a Democratic rival you very likely will have to campaign for or run with in the near future. The enemy is Trump - tell us how you are best suited to beat him.

(8,144 posts)too that whomever wins these debates will also win the election is ludicrous and naive. I have
seen GE candidates so obviously out-debate the Republican nominee only to lose the election.

(44,131 posts)that could gather all the candidates in a room and tell them to stop attacking each other. and stop attacking Obama. That their focus should be on attacking Trump.
At least thats what I heard.

(42,862 posts)I believe his words have been twisted in order to muddy the waters. Fact of the matter is, insofar as the candidates are concerned, the cream IS rising to the top... and it's very clear who is in the lead... and will lead our party to victory over the GOP. Other than in consideration of the obvious outcome of such deliberate (or lazy) misinterpretations, it's difficult for me to determine precisely what the motivation would be for anyone to come up with and present that as their analysis or interpretation. And at this point, for obvious reasons, I think I'll just leave it at that.

(50,278 posts)The attacks on Biden seem over the top to me. Democrats seem to tear each other apart, but leave Trump and his merry band of criminals unscathed. The one thing I've changed my mind on his healthcare and solely because of how it will be portrayed in the general election. Many people voted for Dems in 2018 because Trump was taking their Obamacare away. Suddenly everyone loved Obamacare. I think we should run on protecting and repairing Obamacare and adding a Medicare public option. Let the people decide.
