(3,148 posts)I don't understand why people think Biden would make a different calculation than Obama in '08?
To be clear multiple Dems like Castro, Booker have already committed to picking a women. While Biden, Bernie, and Buttigieg refuse to commit.

Not that it matters because he isn't going to be on the ticket.
If Joe wins, I think he will pick Warren or Harris as his VP. He knows what's up.

(3,148 posts)I'm curious as everyone was certain Obama was going to pick Hillary or at least a women in '08.
I don't remember that many people advocating for Obama to pick Biden, but wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

(58,785 posts)undoubtedly be very personal, as it reportedly is for most nominees, not all but especially Democrats. He'd want a friend who shared his goals and threw him or herself into achieving them, as he did in his very good relationship with Obama. I believe she could and would be that if she was asked and committed to it, but she must have some serious competition for the role.
I've read that next spring will be when those out ahead start thinking seriously about VP choices, but my best guess would be that Biden already has a short list in his head. After all, he's been around a long time and knows everyone.

(7,135 posts)Would prefer to see her at the top of the ticket (if Warren flames out for some reason) but as VP she'd be in a great position to run in 2024 if Biden limits himself to one term.
And I would soooo look forward to seeing her tear that sanctimonious Pence to shreds.
