Isn't it a shame accomplished Governors can't get any traction in the race?
Hickenlooper and Inslee out already. Bullock couldn't make the first debate stage and barely polling at 1% which puts him in the same bracket as Marianne Williamson and below Andrew Yang. Not trying to dismiss those two but neither have ever held any office before. That should matter. It's one thing talking about ideas but it's another having to implement them and baring the consequences of them as a Governor has to each and every day.

2. A crowded stage with a lot of name recognition among several.
Sadly, name recognition means so much in our popularity contest national elections.
The population at DU likely knows a good bit about most/all candidates, since we're mostly political junkies (myself included). We're not typical of the electorate at large though unfortunately. In poll after poll you see our top tier candidates having this small band of "doesn't know the candidate", and the rest having a large percentage that hasn't even heard of them yet. Even now after 2 debates those are large percentages. It ends up being a chicken and egg scenario.. Candidates have to have great name recognition to get coverage, but they have to have good coverage to gain the name recognition. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Undecided |

4. Looking on the bright side,
I see that we need accomplished governors and House and Senate members and persons to make up a competent cabinet. While the office of President is important, it's just one of many.

5. Yes. Not only do they have executive experience, but they don't risk losing a senate seat.
On the other hand, our senators have more experience with foreign policy and have, in some cases, demonstrated in hearing how intelligently and effectively they can expose the damage Republicans are inflicting.
It used to be easier for governors like Bill Clinton to gain support, in part because they didn't have a long history of voting records that could be twisted. ![]() primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden |

6. Indeed it is a shame. Inslee and Hickenlooper would
both have been good national candidates.
