How Pete Buttigieg Plans to Catch Up
August 29, 2019 at 4:29 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard

BuzzFeed News: “The strategy… is to catch up with other campaign organizations in the early caucus and primary states and wait for candidates with less money to drop. Buttigieg’s paid staff has grown to more than 300 — up from 30 just a few months ago — with about 70 on the ground in Iowa and 50 in New Hampshire. New field offices are scheduled to open across both states next week. And the campaign has ramped up its digital advertising, using platforms such as Spotify.”

“One move not under consideration: attacking Biden, who leads in most polls, or the others standing between him and Buttigieg. Past primaries have shown little benefit for those who target a frontrunner.”

Said adviser Lis Smith: “The first phase was just getting people to understand how to pronounce this impossible to pronounce Maltese last name. The second phase was to blow everyone out of the water on fundraising — everyone out of the fucking water. Done. Done. Now the third phase is blow them out of the water with our organization and our organizational abilities.”
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

2. Mine too - he's what we need

I don’t think it’s a given the nominee will be any of the top three right now - I don’t think in the end the current top three will be in the top five. Historically things shift as people start paying more attention.

3. He is careful, and thoughtful, and smart.

I think he sees further than most of us; he's good at strategy.

He is far and away my choice.

5. Out of all the great candidates that we have (with only one exception)

Mayor Pete is the refreshing, innovative change option. At this point in time we NEED a different outlook, with a different approach. It is a make or break election for this country.

I realize that he has a strategy in how he goes forward, especially since he was a (relatively) complete unknown at the beginning of this.

I have tried to help by donating $25 three different times (I know that is not much) so he would know he could count on my continued support, and I will try to donate more when I see he is going further. My partner and I are 71 and 68, respectively, retired, and on a limited income, but we both have given to him. We will again, hopefully.

I also realize that he has a long political career in front of him. We just don't have that long to wait....

primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden
