We lost the midwest over pretend Russian manufactured BS.

A confiscation of rifles on his Assault Weapons list would be real.

Diehard Republicans might not vote for Democrats, but winning the GE requires lots of independents who have firearms.

If its true that he's only going to confiscate AR and AK rifles, less than 500-700 out of 40,000 a year are killed with rifles of any kind.

that is what mandatory means. I happen to agree it needs to be done, but let's not be dishonest about what it would entail.

That's how Australia and New Zealand took the prohibited weapons out of circulation. There was no door-to-door confiscation.

On MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Friday, O’Rourke made clear he didn't envision a scenario in which federal agents actively confront noncomplying gun owners in their homes, nor is there a registry of individual firearms they would be able to consult to do so.

"It is mandatory, it will be the law," O’Rourke said. "You will be required to comply with the law. So, as with many of our laws, we don't go door-to-door searching people's homes to see if they are in fact breaking the law, we expect people to comply with the law."

How else is he going to get the guns? He's not pushing for just a buyback option that allows those to voluntarily give their guns back. He's specifically stated he'll take their assault rifles.

Other candidates have proposed a ban similar to the Clinton era ban, which did not end in confiscation, but rather didn't permit any to be sold going forward.

With that said, I side more with Beto on this - but I don't know if it's politically attainable.
