Not Too Late for Kamala Harris

Not Too Late for Kamala Harris

"SNIP......

David Leonhardt: “As the savvy political analyst Sean Trende wrote last week, she is the most natural politician in the field, and people are now underrating her chances. Last week, she had a good debate, from her opening statement directed at Trump to her stirring words about the dire peril of climate change — and our ability to overcome it.”

“The first primaries, remember, are still months away, and many people are only now starting to follow the race. Notably, a recent national poll found that fewer Democratic voters have formed an opinion about Harris than about her main rivals. The history of presidential campaigns offers the same lesson: When The New York Times ran a front-page story about the ‘mounting alarm’ among Obama’s supporters over his underdog campaign against Hillary Clinton, it was late October 2007.”

“Harris remains an important candidate because the Democratic field remains flawed. And if you see Trump as a threat to America’s interests — which he is — you should at this point be rooting for as many strong potential nominees as possible.”

not so much about specific proposals. Those of us who took Civics classes know that laws are made by Congress, yes, at the urging of a popular president.

Can I trust that person?

I can say yes about several of our great candidates, especially Liz and Kamala.

It is the greatest mystery of the campaign : Why is Kamala doing so poorly in the polls ? Her support amongst African-Americans is 7% …… 5 months ago , I thought the battle would come down to Biden , Bernie and Kamala …… She has everything in the world going for her but, so far, it ain't happening …...I believe Biden,if nominated, will choose her as his running mate so her future remains bright …….

in small groups. But she struggles to connect when making speeches. The only reason a president needs to connect in big crowds is to get elected. Maybe she will do better. The others are all natural politicians.

Yes, we have many natural politicians in the group, which made the line in the OP that she was "the most natural politician in the field" a bit of a head-scratcher. For Harris, sometimes it's there, sometimes not so much (I think she started this last debate strong but got weaker as it went on).

...he looks vulnerable. His support in South Carolina collapses. Harris has a strong enough showing in the first 3 states, wins South Carolina and has a great Super Tuesday. That's the path I envision her taking to the nomination.
