Presidential hopeful Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) called out her Democratic opponents for fundraising off of impeachment on Monday, accusing them of undermining the credibility of the inquiry.
"Candidates for POTUS who are fundraising off 'impeachment' are undermining credibility of inquiry in eyes of American people, further dividing our already fractured country," Gabbard said in a tweet.
"Please stop. We need responsible, patriotic leaders who put the interests of our country before their own," she continued.
Democrats have used the issue to shore up fundraising support from donors after Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced on Tuesday that the House would launch a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump amid allegations from a whistleblower that Trump sought to persuade Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, the front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination.

(113,061 posts)Of the Dem party. Even if I fought for my preferred candidate I could see why someone else saw the value of another voice.
But Gabbard is creepy af and comes off as a Russian agent. I truly dislike her.

(11,986 posts)I know you don't like Gabbard, and you know I find some of your arguments against her to be unpersuasive... but THIS is something I understand, just a gut feeling that something is off. And that's not something you argue with facts, it just "is what it is." I feel similarly about Cory Booker. Not as extreme as what you feel about Gabbard... i.e. I would not feel at all bad about voting for him in the general if he were somehow the nominee or VP. And there is some stuff I like about him. But yeah, there's also this thing I can't define, that to me just feels slightly off about him.

(11,986 posts)It's more like something overall in his delivery and facial expressions, that can come off as overly earnest or "excessively sincere" if that makes sense... making him almost seem phony even while I feel sure he's being genuine. I'm pretty sure it is in his physicality, as I haven't been struck that way when I've heard him speak on the radio, only when watching him. It's not "disqualifying," but it does just give me the sense of something being a little off, making it harder for me to warm up to him as a candidate. And yet, I also do see where he is charismatic. Go figure.
The other knock I have on Booker, which I CAN explain, is how he started the last debate with a call for unity and not going after each other, and then later went on what seemed like a well prepared attack against Biden. Seemed hypocritical.

(9,688 posts)Actually, ALL of this:
There is some hidden agenda here (yes, I agree about the Russian agent part - that combined with overall weirdness).
And, especially given her very low poll ratings, she seems to be mysteriously well-funded.
I don't trust her at all.
She certainly is not in this to help the Democratic party win back the White House.

(11,986 posts)What do you base that on? Her fundraising seems perfectly reasonable relative to others in her position:
https://www.opensecrets.org/2020-presidential-race
Leaders Biden, Sanders, Warren, Harris, Buttigieg have raised in the $21-$46 million range.
Booker, O'Rourke, Klobuchar are at about $12 million.
Gabbard, Yang, and Castro are in the $4-$6 million range.
The only thing that looks like an anomaly to me is Delaney at $17m.
