Gabbard voted against Magnitsky Act

Bill Browder ✔ @Billbrowder

No need to ask Tulsi Gabbard about how she feels about the Magnitsky Act because we have her voting record. In December 2016, she was among a tiny minority of members of Congress to vote against the Global Magnitsky Act.

Replying to @Billbrowder
Has she been asked yet about the Magnitsky Act? I wonder if she supports it or wants it's removal

4. About Sanders vote...

Sen. Sanders did vote against the 2012 Magnitsky Act, joining three other Democratic Senators: Carl Levin (MI), John Reed (RI), Sheldon Whitehouse (RI), and two other Democrats who did not vote. Where are all of the people questioning Senators Whitehouse and Reed on their ties to the Kremlin?
...
Context is important here. It is more likely that Sen. Sanders voted against the means regarding permanent normal trade relations and not to protect Russia. The same could be said for the other Democratic Senators. What this account fails to mention is that Sen. Sanders voted for a stricter version of the Magnitsky Act in 2015, S. 284 — Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act. It also helps to realize that the Obama Administration was also cautious regarding sanctions during this time.

He's repeatedly missed votes or voted in favor of Russian interests several times in recent years, unlike that small handful of other senators that he is trying to hide behind in regards to this one particular issue.

though for some reason I could not get it fully clickable, you have to copy and paste it into a browser window.

Anyway, I don't think your response makes sense in the context of the full article, which (a) does not support the idea that he's "hiding behind" anything since this is not even a claim he made (i.e. you should not take the author's words as his own) and (b) shows he DID support a stricter version of the act in question (which is the only topic of this thread), and (c) since you brought it up, happens to ALSO deal with the other stuff you mentioned, i.e. missed votes, or votes where there was no clear "in favor of russian interest" because the vote involved more than one thing, with no way to vote for (or against) part without voting for (or against) all.

3. Putin & everyone in his orbit hates the Magnitsky Act.

"If you're not familiar with the Magnitsky Act, a 2012 U.S. law, here is the most important thing to understand: Russian President Vladimir Putin and everyone in his orbit hates it.

"A purely political, unfriendly act," Putin called it at the time, and he has been railing against it ever since.

Congress wanted to punish Russian human rights abusers by barring them from entering the U.S. This followed the 2009 death of Sergei Magnitsky, a Russian lawyer who died at age 37 in a Moscow prison where he was held — and allegedly beaten — after accusing Russian officials of massive tax fraud.

The law symbolized the deteriorating relations between the U.S. and Russia. Days after Congress passed it, the Russian parliament responded by banning American citizens from adopting Russian orphans."
