Who are these "Democratic Strategists" that say we need new candidates?

These mysterious people are referenced in a number of articles, most recently in EJ Dionne’s WAPO op today. Why can’t they come out of the shadows?

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

They are people who think Biden is failing and they only want a moderate or establishment nominee. LonePirate Oct 2019 #1

of 'establishment'. Despite all the wishful thinking going on at the moment by many (not saying you),this is a center left country and we will lose if we have a candidate who runs too far left in the primary to move to the center in the general without appearing to 'flip flop' (remember Kerry?).

We would have had public option in the ACA and NOT lost control of the house in 2011, but for the incessant whining of the Dem ‘strategist’ class warning their clients not to stray too far from the Republicans on certain issues.

had Obama's back, we would not have lost the house nor the Senate. It would be a different world today. The fact is there are more moderate voters than those voters on the left...and we forget that at our peril. We have already ceded certain states to the GOP by not practicing our most effective strategy...50 state strategy where you run candidates who can win in their districts or states. We are big tent, when we forget this, we always lose.

Please don't leave Biden out, he needs to share the good and the bad. I think Obama should have sent Biden to negotiate with the far left to bring them on board, if Biden can negotiate with republicans imagine how easy it would have been to negotiate with far left.

All the positive change that was done between when President Obama took office and the election of 2010 was not enough for them, some pissed and moaned loudly and in the end followed Ed Schultz' suggestion to not vote to teach democrats a lesson, soon after Schultz went back to essentially being a rightie.

The votes were not there for a Public Option in 2010, President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Senate President Reed wisely realized that and got as much in the bill as they could get passed. You can talk about "possibilities" until the cows come home, but in our current system, nothing happens without votes, unless we our President do a Trump and ignore the Constitution when parts of that document is an obstacle.

We have some good ones still running, and some good ones we could call back. If we don't it'll be because we like what WE've already chosen best.

And while we're still considering our options, maybe also consider that, whether he's one's favorite or not, we're very fortunate to have a generally well liked and respected, widely popular candidate for the others to strive to best. Just think of the alternative. We could have several "upper tier" candidates all struggling to generate enough liking and enthusiasm to hold first or second place by the skin of their teeth for more than a couple weeks.

Big no to listening to 2 years of opinion pieces by people who have to make a living by somehow getting people keep reading rehashes and pot-stirrings for that whole time. Their venal churnings destroy convictions and turn their victims into defuddled, demoralized idiots.
