Kamala Harris ✔ @KamalaHarris
You are attacking a decorated Army colonel.
Alexander Vindman served in the Iraq War. You serve yourself.
He received a Purple Heart. You're receiving subpoenas.
Unlike you, he has a sense of duty to this country. He is a patriot. You are a disgrace.
Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
Supposedly, according to the Corrupt Media, the Ukraine call concerned todays Never Trumper witness. Was he on the same call that I was? Cant be possible! Please ask him to read the Transcript of the call. Witch Hunt!

(15,369 posts)to Napoleon in ANY way!
Napoleon Bonaparte was a talented leader and a totally self-made man, not someone who inherited a fortune from his father and thought that he had hit a home run.
Yes, Napoleon got caught up in his own hubris at the end. Nevertheless, he was undeniably brilliant AND he left many good things behind. Interestingly enough, one country besides France that remembers him positively is Slovenia (Melania's native country!) where there is a statue erected in his honor in Ljubljana, the capital.
Remember also that much of what we in the English-speaking world know about him is the UK version. They were, of course, no fans whatsoever.
See, e.g., Napoleon's Legacy: https://www.pbs.org/empires/napoleon/n_politic/legacy/page_1.html
One of his greatest and most lasting accomplishments was in implementing a Civil Code, aka a Rule of Law, which still applies today in France and many of its former colonies. The Napoleonic Code is still the rule of law in Louisiana today. If anything, 45 has done nothing but try to destroy our own - and international - rule of law.
And What made Napoleon a Great Leader? http://discerninghistory.com/2015/07/what-made-napoleon-a-great-leader/
The qualities enumerated and expanded upon in this article are: Always Learning; Good General; Efficient Orangizer; Brilliance; Good Government; Convincing Propaganda; and Popular Charisma. Only the propaganda part could perhaps apply to the Great Grifter.
From the second link:
These factors gave him incredible popularity in France. People still loved him even after his downfall. For years Napoleonic memorabilia was banned in France, but people still smuggled it in. One of my ancestors was a soldier under Napoleon, one of his Old Guard. He immigrated to America after Waterloo, but he still said that if he heard that Napoleon had turned to France, he would drop his new life and return to Europe to fight under his old commander.
Downfall
It was these seven characteristics that allowed Napoleon Bonaparte to achieve one of the most remarkable careers in the world. However, as he grew older, his abilities began to fade. He gained a lot weight, his health began to decline, and with it, his capacity for work. His pride and belief in his own destiny began to push him into wars he was not able to win, and his force of character turned into stubbornness. Although the older Napoleon was not the same as his younger self, he was still a force to be reckoned with. Even after he was defeated by the coalition, he escaped from the island of Elba, and in the Hundred Days regained control of France before being finally defeated at the Battle of Waterloo.
Whatever else he was, Napoleon was also a great man. The total POS who currently occupies the WH is a petty and hollow toddler.
*************
I am no fan of dictators. But Napoleon does deserve better than being linked with 45 in ANY way.

Today, a Donald Trump supporter handed him a Purple Heart. Trumps flippant and repugnant reply: I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier.

(629 posts)If this was reversed, the Repukes would be all over this, screaming how dare the Dems attack a decorated military man. They would paint the Dems as not patriotic. The Dems need to be more vocal! Call the Repukes out over this. Make them go on air and say that they were wrong for attacking him.

(79 posts)She gets off good dingers in her sound bytes and probably would do well in a debate against Trump. I'm not sure how that translates into being a great president, which is what we expect when we elect our eventual nominee.
