Bernie Sanders sets new Record with 4 million donations

Not sure anyone has mentioned this yet.

Apologies if a duplicate

Senator Bernie Sanders has set a new record.

According to his presidential campaign, Sanders surpassed 4 million donations sooner than any other candidate in history.

small donations instead of a single larger donation, to drive the numbers up, which makes it less impressive.

See the replies, including one about some Sanders supporters making multiple tiny donations per day.

2. Yes, it's been mentioned many times. When a candidate asks his followers to contribute $2.70 daily..

...of course he's going to have a lot of contributIONs. But as of September 30, the end of the third quarter, he's reported only about 60,000 contributORs.

From his FEC filings, the "record" contributor gave more than 800 contributions in about three months, averaging 11 per day, an average of less than $4.00 per contribution. That's how a candidate keeps his contribution count UP and his average contribution DOWN.

7. From his daily email yesterday (note, no specified "goal"):

We are quickly approaching a critical deadline tonight at midnight, and we're not far from reaching our goal. If Bernie can count on you to make your first contribution, we'll get there.

Can you contribute $2.70 before tonight's monthly deadline? Your donation will help Bernie win in Iowa, win this primary, and transform our country.

Right after this monthly deadline, we begin an all-out sprint to Iowa. Immediately after that comes New Hampshire.
If we can hold on to the momentum in this race – and reach our November fundraising goal before tonight's deadline – we will be unstoppable.

Add your $2.70 donation to stand with Bernie. There's only one way we win, and that is together.

Contributors are encouraged to give small contributions frequently.

That accomplishes two things for him - it increases the number of contributions and he keeps the average down, but both are artificial bragging points.

I've mentioned the woman in Michigan who gave an average of 11 contributions a DAY from the date is campaign was announced until the end of June, about three months. Her average contribution was under $4.00, almost all of them were exactly $3.00.

She is now maxed out at $2,800 for the year. In the eyes of the casual observer, all of those 800+ $3.00 contributions are from "small donors", but in fact, at $2,800 aggregate she's no less of a "big donor" than any other candidates' $2,800 contributors.

By the way, as I was typing this I received the early morning email (8:54 AM), with this comment:

Here is the truth:

December marks the end of the last quarterly FEC fundraising deadline of this primary. And shortly before Iowa, we’ll report not just how much money we’ve raised, but how many donations we’ve received toward that number.

And that’s important. Not just because it’s these donations that fund this campaign. But it’s also because voters LOVE the way we fund this campaign. This is a big part of how we WIN!

So our job right now is to rack up as many donations as we possibly can before this deadline. And that starts now. With this ask:

Can you make a $2.70 contribution to our campaign as part of our final FEC quarterly fundraising deadline push?

Bernie, or anyone else setting a new record for that matter, falls in to Trump's purview as a challenge.

Tomorrow's early am toilet sitting tweet is gonna ask all this 50 million TrumpHumpers to each send in five dollars, if they believe he is the greatest fundraiser ever, because the democrats think they are. He probably will ask them to mail it to him at his Trump Tower address, marked personal, and make the contribution in cash knowing him as we do.........

Then, in a couple of weeks, he and the "First Escort" will make a trip to the Bahamas and have an unprecedented amount of luggage for even her wardrobe requirements...........

I have a well off friend, certainly not a mega millionaire or Billionaire who makes a yearly trip for just one day down to one of the Bahama Islands.
