Michael Bloomberg Responds to Criticism He's Trying to Buy Election

Bloomberg December 6, 2019, 9:24 AM EST

&quot Bloomberg) -- Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg responded to criticism from Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and other rivals that he’s trying to buy the election by self-financing his campaign, saying they had the same opportunity in life to build up a fortune as he did.

The former New York mayor said in an interview on “CBS This Morning” that he didn’t come from a wealthy family and earned his money by building up his business. He said his rivals, too, “had a chance to go out and make a lot of money.”

“I’m doing exactly the same thing they’re doing, except that I am using my own money,” Bloomberg said. “They’re using somebody else’s money and those other people expect something from them. Nobody gives you money if they don’t expect something. I don’t want to be bought.”

Talk about $$$ destroying one's ability to reason !!

What a load of ignorant crap.

ON EDIT: I don't know how that crying emoji popped up there, but it did. I think it is fitting, so I will leave it.

'owe' them something is certainly true.

But his whole stick about 'everybody had a chance to become a billionaire' is sick. And following that line of reasoning, he is saying, unbeknownst to himself, that only the rich can run.

What is needed is public financed elections... fat chanced, eh..

I worry what Warren will do for donors like this. The dripping cynicism and the calculation just jumps off the page:

In a video posted to Twitter (below), the Democratic presidential candidate begins the call by saying, “Hello, Zachary.”

“Yeah?” he asks.

“It’s Elizabeth Warren.”

“Umm… you gotta be kidding me,” he responds.

“Nope, not kidding,” she smiles.

“Oh my god, oh my god, this is so awesome!” he replies before asking, “Could you hold on one sec?”

He then grabs his boyfriend Alex to listen in on the call, and Warren greets him. She explains that she’s calling to thank Zach for contributing to her campaign.

“You are so welcome,” Zach says. “I’m more than happy to do that. I don’t have much money but, I’m 19. I work paycheck to paycheck but I thought it was, you know, something to believe in.”

“I know,” Warren says. “We’re gonna do this together,” she says before adding, “Alex, you’ve got a good guy here for a boyfriend.”

They then laugh and thank her again for her call, telling her, “You keep fighting.”

19. I have a problem called benign positional vertigo.
Sat Dec 7, 2019, 01:11 AM
Dec 2019

It onsets when the temperature gets colder, like now. I feel it when I lay down very fast into bed or when I get up from bed on a cold night. Exercise where my head becomes hot seem to prevent the occurrence or make it really mild. I don't have the problem during the late spring, summer or early fall, I only have it starting in November through around March here in Florida.

People develop the problem as they age. It is caused by calcium crystals that are attached to a structure in the inner ear that modulates how our body senses gravity, becoming dislodged. It is called benign because it is not life threatening, but there is no cure once a person has the problem. A person gets a scan of the head and neck to confirm that the problem is positional vertigo and not a more serious issue.

Yup, I was checked for that one.. Seems I have something different. There are about a million causes of vertigo and dizziness..
Still trying to figure out what mine is...
maybe vestibular neuritis

Right now I have appts for hearing test, ENT, neurologist and opthamologist.

Thanks for your story..

I had never heard of anyone having vertigo-UNTIL I got it ONCE... now a run into a gazillion people who had or have it..

movement. The worst part is on very cold nights (I have never liked heating my home, I rather use covers to hold body warmth), if I flip from one side of my body to the other too fast, it feels like someone spun my around really fast (remember that feeling as a kid?), I am normally dizzy for about 3-4 seconds after the flip then I am back to normal as long as I don't move again. The first time that it hit me was last winter. I sat up quickly in bed one morning and the whole room was spinning around me. I laid back on the pillow and looked at the ceiling and it was spinning. I closed my eyes tight and just laid still until the spinning feeling seemed to stop, then I opened my eyes and everything was normal again. It took me a few minutes to realize that I had to avoid quick position movements of my head. I panicked out of my mind and had medical exams done right away. It all was so disconcerting, I had never had anything like that happen before.

Honestly, I didn't know much about vertigo and the little that I had read, I assumed that it was something that I could avoid by staying fit, how wrong was I.

The notion that someone incredibly wealthy can't be bought is done. What if people who have shown an affinity toward accumulating money and power actually continued to do that in power because very few of the policy choices that they make or give away will actually ever affect them. Absurd idea, eh.

He was born solidly middleclass, but not rich in Massachusetts. He hit upon a novel idea and made a fortune.

FDR was very wealthy, as was John F Kennedy. By the standards that people are using today, neither man would warrant our consideration because of their large wealth.

JFK's dad actually had a medical team follow him with life saving medicine, apparently JFK had a pretty serious problem where if he did not get an injection once the symptom hit, he was likely dead. There were also accusations during that time that JFK's dad bought JFK the 1960 nomination (which was a lot more possible then than it is now).

FDR was from dripping wealth, you never heard of his line that his policies caused his kind (the super rich) to dislike him?

...fair enough, Mike...

...but if you truly wanted to be fair, you would give equal amounts of money that you're campaign is spending to your fellow Democratic candidates to level the playing field...

...then let the best candidate win...you've got more than enough money to go around...

"Nobody gives you money if they don’t expect something."

...what you would expect and what you would receive would be a true, fair and honest election without the overwhelming influence of money...

...it would all be painless, you wouldn't feel a thing...
