9. Texas will be a battleground state if Biden is the nominee

Dec 2019

I and a large number of hard core Democrats have been working for a long while to turn Texas blue. Demographic trends indicate that Texas will be blue no later than 2024 but trump has accelerated the process. After the 2010 mid terms, the Democrats had 49 seats in the Texas legislature compared to 101 for the GOP (this meant that the Texas GOP had a super majority). In 2018 we picked up 12 Texas house seats and now need 9 more to take control of the Texas house. In 2018, we flipped two Texas Congressional seats (Lizzie Fletcher and Colin Allgood). The DCCC has targeted 6 congressional seats.

If Biden is the nominee we will make Texas into a battleground state

Trump's lead is only 1% in a red State, and that is great news for Joe Biden. Sanders trails Trump by 7% in the same poll.

1. $$$$ Bloomberg$$$ jumped in the race late and is polling better than established Dems like Booker and Castro
2. Many Dems have been surprised that Castro isn't doing better in the polls. When you see that he's only polling at 3% in his home state it explains why he doing so poorly in the national polls.

My guess is that, after flooding the airwaves with his ads, and no real exposure for the other candidates, Bloomberg's numbers would be better than adequate... as they currently are.

I haven't had cable in ten years and watch the big three networks in the evening and mornings, and Bloomberg's ads are about 90% of the total of Dem primary ads I've seen, with Steyer bringing in the other 10%.

I'm hoping that as time goes on, I see more buys from the other candidates, but so far, it's only been Bloomberg (and a little Steyer).

Even if we aren't quite blue, at least we have reached the point where Republicans will have to sink loads of money into Texas, in contrast to the ATM it has been for them in the past.
