Sanders make comeback as Warren slips

Two months ago, Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid seemed to be faltering. His progressive rival Elizabeth Warren had surged past him in the polls and he suffered a heart attack that raised serious questions about his durability.

He seems to have rebounded in recent weeks as he’s stuck to Medicare for All while other candidates have softened their stances and as he’s gained star endorsements from the younger faces in the movement.

National surveys released Tuesday by Quinnipiac and Monmouth show him slightly ahead -- but within the margin of error -- for second place among Democrats, behind Joe Biden.

And he’s going strong in the early nominating states. Recent polls place him second in Iowa — where he’s returning for several events this weekend — and statistically tied for the lead in New Hampshire and second in Nevada. And he’s statistically tied with Warren for the lead in California, a Super Tuesday state that provides 10% of the delegates to the Democratic nominating convention.

He has been aided by endorsements from young progressive stars like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and by staying out of clashes that have enveloped his three main rivals Warren, Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg. He retains a loyal base, a valuable asset in a crowded field that could split the Democratic vote.

1. I posted this the first time this poll was referenced a couple of days ago:

The last two Quinnipiac poll results:

11/2-11/25

Biden 24
Sanders 13
Warren 14
Buttiegieg 16

This latest, 12/4-12-9

Biden 29 (+5)
Sanders 17 (+4)
Warren 15 (+1)
Buttiegieg 9 (-7)

So I guess if Sanders is making a "comeback" with an increase of 4 points, what word can we use for Biden's 5 point increase? Fact is, Biden was ahead by 8 in November and now by 12 in December.

Sanders will not be the president. Sanders would not accept the VP slot. Warren would not agree to be Sanders's 2nd banana (even if he was nominated).

Well, thanks for the compliment and vote of confidence. I appreciate that. It's just that I'm a very realistic person who chooses to not live in a fantasy world.

pressure I believe to choose a so-called moderate for a running mate and preferably a person of color. And it would need to be a candidate from a swing state who might help the party win that state in a close election. Bernie and Elizabeth of course are both from states that the Democrats will win anyway.
