Endorsements. How much do they matter? Do they influence you?

I will give you my own take which is that endorsements in the long run mean diddly-squat. Especially endorsements at this stage of the game.

If someone I respect and admire endorses my favorite candidate I'm pleased, but that's already my favorite candidate. If that same someone endorses my least favorite candidate I simply wonder what's wrong with that someone. It doesn't change my mind.

How about you? Do endorsements sway you? Not matter at all? I'm simply curious about how others think.

I base my support of a candidate on their positions or, to be quite frank, their electability at least as I perceive it and NOT on who EMILY's List, Justice Democrats, the Congressional Black Caucus and so on give their imprimatur to.

In fact, it annoys me when a candidate starts touting their latest endorsement by the Boogerville Fish Wrapper.

I will check the local Union endorsements on candidates and issues in the immediate area as a double check, but as far as politicians, officials or celebrities endorsing one candidate over the other it means less than zero to me.

If someone is a Congressman or a Senator, and they get few endorsements or none at all from their peers, then I wonder.

Are they effective where they are? Would they be effective in a higher office? Do they know how to work with others? I could not support someone whose peers do not support him or her.

Who and why they endorse does.

If it’s someone like Pelosi, and she came out and endorsed Warren with the stated belief that Warren is the best one to take on Trump in the GE, yeah, I’d give very strong consideration to changing my support. Probably would.

But yeah, there’s a very small number of endorsements that would get me to give strong consideration based on their endorsement.

endorsements by organizations I respect tend to influence me. Finally, for some local offices, the endorsement of the DFL Party in that local district is something I often consult before voting.

Politicians endorsing each other? Meh...
