LIVE: Bernie Meets with MLB Class Action Plaintiffs

Scheduled for Dec 15, 2019

SAVE MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL: The MLB is threatening to eliminate the entire Minor League Baseball system. That would destroy thousands of jobs and devastate local economies, and we will not sit idly by to let that happen. Join us live from Burlington, Iowa for a meeting and batting practice with minor league players and employees:

1. This is false. "MLB" doesn't own any minor league baseball teams. How can they....

....."eliminate" the minor league baseball system? Only two major league baseball teams own some of their minor league affilliates:

MLB Atlanta Braves own the AAA Gwinnett Braves, AA Mississippi Braves, A Rome Braves and the Rookie Danville Braves
MLB St. Louis Cardinals own the AAA Memphis Redbirds, AA Springfield Cardinals, A-Adv. Palm Beach Cardinals and the Rookie Johnson City Cardinals.

The rest of the teams are privately owned. This is creating an issue that doesn't really exist.

Truth matters!

... between several minor league teams and their MLB parent clubs.

Which is incredibly stupid because the whole reason people go to minor league games is you might see a future big league star on the field.

Without the MLB connection these teams will fold.

....42 of those teams.

I don't know the finances or success of those 42 teams' player development, but they're not doing this whimsically. And they're not putting those teams out of business, either.

With everything going on in this country and the world, I don't understand why this is even something being addressed in the campaign.
