Related: About this forumOne family, two schools: Questions raised about another Sanders deal
Bernie Sanders's strategy of preemptively attacking the media as biased the way Trump has routinely attacked the media has worked in enabling him to get a free pass. While Republicans happily pursue conspiracy theories against Biden, and wine cave fundraiser are the focus of a debates, and Elizabeth Warren gets pressed about financing Medicare for All, Bernie is able to avoid such scrutiny even as his campaign complains about media bias.
Biden, Warren and even Pete B have all took turns being the focus of attacks during the debates. In contrast, Bernie has not been the focus of such attacks even though he was at one time leading in the polls at the start of the campaign season. Bernie remains unvetted even though there is a lot of questions about his tenure as Vermont's senator. For example, even less discussed then the demise of Burlington College, which was headed by his wife Janes Sanders, is the conflicts of interest arising from contracts negotiated between Burlington and a school headed by Bernie's step daughter Carina Driscoll.
Carina Driscoll, of course, has followed her step father into politics, and was funded and endorsed by Bernie's SuperPAC, Our Revolution, notwithstanding Bernie's statement that, In our family, however, we do not believe in dynastic politics."
These are facts and statements that Bernie's campaign has been able to avoid addressing.

Moore is equally critical of a deal Jane Sanders brokered between the college and Driscolls Vermont Woodworking School, a facility in Franklin County where Burlington College students took courses. In interviews with VTDigger, Moore said the college got the short end of the stick.
This was a sweetheart deal for Carina Driscoll, Jane Sanders daughter, said Moore. Driscoll is the stepdaughter of Bernie Sanders.
Moore served as the colleges president from 2014 until May 2016, when the school abruptly shut down.

Troubling.

(17,387 posts)While "scandals" about his opponents can get perma kicked on social media such as reference to Pete B's wine cave fundraise, since Pete B is one of Bernie's biggest threats to winning Iowa, you aren't going to see much attention to Bernie's actual record.

(17,387 posts)...seem to defend him even when he is attacking Warren. I have posted threads supportive of Warren versus Sanders and the strongest responses I get are from purported Warren supporters supporting Bernie over Warren.
So, I agree with your point. Bernie has a very sophisticated social media operation.

Bernie Sanders on race, again: If there was one issue that dogged Sanders in his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton, it was his inability to appeal to minority voters. And for one striking moment on Thursday, that problem reared its ugly head
The candidates were asked about the declining diversity in their debate field, and when the question was presented to Sanders, he opted instead to try to talk return to a previous topic, climate change. Debate moderator Amna Nawaz of PBS NewsHour cut in, though. Senator, with all respect, this question is about race. Can you answer the question as it was asked?
The crowd roared. Sanders tried to rescue it by saying people of color would suffer from climate change, too, and then he offered some boilerplate about problems that plague minority communities. It was one moment, but it came just after the only minority candidate onstage, Andrew Yang, gave a detailed answer citing the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., and it briefly revived some old demons.
Sanders also, shortly thereafter, responded to a quote Barack Obama recently gave about old white men running countries. When debate moderator Tim Alberta noted Sanders was the oldest candidate onstage, Sanders interjected, And Im white, as well! It wasnt awful, but it may not have been the time to emphasize that.
