...might have been a temporary military tactic and will distract from impeachment, but what's our long term strategy in the Middle East?...more endless wars?...war with Iran?...more unauthorized wars by Congress?
Bernie is unambiguous,

" Im going to do everything I can to prevent a war with Iran, because if you think the war in Iraq was a disaster, my guess is that war in Iran would be even worse... So lets work together and prevent that war, and if people want to criticize me for that, go for it, thats OK, I dont apologize to anybody. "

...so where do we stand...I read Joe's statement on the killing of Soleimani and outside of the warning I didn't see much call to resist...
...in 2002, Joe voted for the war in Iraq, Bernie voted against the war in Iraq...
...how these two candidates respond to trump's call to war will make a huge difference...

(23,097 posts)He's gotten more anti-war as he ages and hope he sees that this is just a wag the dog moment where someone got killed just to distract from impeachment. I'd bet it was someone PUtin wanted gone or he never would have gone against who he sees as "The Master".

(2,412 posts)I am waiting to hear Bidens statement. He did vote for the War on Iraq and he even promoted it at the time. His son fought in the war. If he repudiates war I would be overjoyed to vote for him.
I hope he is flexible and changes his mind. This could be his winning ticket.

(23,097 posts)I hope he really thinks seriously about who started this and why before he makes any statement and doesn't just reflexively "rally round the flag". I don't think he will, and am looking forward to hear his, Senator Warren's & Mayor Pete's statements.

(2,412 posts)Good for Joe Biden, he said that this killing was like tossing a stick of dynamite into the situation.
He is quoted in todays Guardian. Thank you, Joe, from the bottom of my heart. As one whose brother in law died in Vietnam for a lie, I am grateful to you, Joe!

Please stop dwelling on what happened in 2002, this is 2020.

(2,412 posts)Excuse me but I distinctly remember that Sanders worked to support his supporters to vote for Hillary. Hillary embraced some of his platform ideas from his campaign and they went forward together.

(14,572 posts)did in fact urge his supporters to get behind Clinton. Here's the link: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/bernie-sanders-urges-reluctant-supporters-back-hillary-clinton-n620541
As early as July 26, 2016, he was pleading with followers to get behind Clinton: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-elections/dnc-2016-bernie-sanders-pleads-with-his-supporters-to-vote-for-hillary-clinton-a7155966.html
I'm not trying to refight that primary, but he did urge his followers to support Clinton. I certainly did. And Clinton would have won, had we not had the antiquated electoral college system.
